Frequent disconnects on AC7260 after installation of latest driver (18.33.11.2) Win10 x64 (16299.125)

Hi,

I had some issues with BSODs on AC7260 (see here https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-performance/tcpipsys-bsod-on-lenovo-t440s/22257470-7173-4a6b-96e3-dbc76713396e https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-performance/tcpipsys-bsod-on-lenovo-t440s/22257470-7173-4a6b-96e3-dbc76713396e for details) so I have recently used Intel DSA to update to the latest version of wireless drivers for my WiFi (18.33.11.2, released just several days ago). The updated driver presumably fixes BSODs (at least according to the changelog) and indeed I have not seen any BSODs since the installation of updated driver.

However, after the installation of the new driver version I see frequent disconnects with no useful diagnostic information available from Intel Wireless Event Viewer. I am attaching the diagnostic log that I was able to produce (nothing useful really) and also the information on the WiFi/access point vendor.

Any ideas?

Halleck

Here are the Intel SSU logs as well, just in case.

From reading other reports on similar issues I am going to rollback to the driver version which shipped originally with Windows.

Hello halleck1,

We understand you were experiencing BSOD crashes that were resolved by updating to the latest driver and uninstalling KB4074588.

We'd like to mention that the BSOD fix mentioned in the Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software version 20.30.1 does not apply to your adapter, which uses driver version 18.33.11.2. The driver used by your adapter was introduced with the Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software version 20.10.2 to resolve the frame replay vulnerability. /thread/119715 More information.

We always recommend using the latest drivers provided by your computer manufacturer. These are similar to the drivers we provide in our Download Center, only they have been customized to match your wireless adapter's integration. Our latest generic drivers are recommended as a secondary option, followed by the inbox drivers (older generic version provided through the Windows* Update Catalog) as a last option if all others do not resolve the problem.

Could you please try the latest version provided by your computer manufacturer and let us know if the connectivity issues continue?

We recommend using our https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000022173/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking.html clean installation method in order to discard any potentially problematic settings or corruptions.

Ok, thanks, I will rollback from latest generic Intel driver. I will then install the latest Lenovo-provided driver for my laptop and will re-test with this AP.

Thank you,

Halleck

Hello halleck1,

That should help, but please let us know your results either way.
