Hello jemb,

We would like to mention that the error "The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory" is a normally a permissions issue, and not a problem in the installer.

You might want to make sure you use the "Run as Administrator" option when executing the installer.

Also, confirm that you have the required privileges to modify the installation folders.

Here are some external websites that you can use as reference about folder privileges and how to resolve them:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/228658 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/228658

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiSH7hNZ9GY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiSH7hNZ9GY

For any further assistance, we will need additional information about the issue.

- Please let us know which installer you are trying to run and the source from where you obtained it.

- What is the model of your Wireless adapter?

- Any additional information about the PC or Operating System that may help understand the situation.

Regards,

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

I have done a lot lot more before coming to you. I had previous experience of permission issues on a Z580 so I know a bit on this permission subject.

i) I have gone to the drivers and ensured there is 'full control' for the permissions.

ii) This is a single-user laptop so the user has Administrator rights.

iii) The drivers I am attempting to install, which I downloaded using the 'Intel Driver Update Utility', are [a] BT_19.00.1621_64_Win10, [b] Wireless_19.0.1_PROSet64_Win10, and Garphics 5500 win64_154025.4464; Intel Driver Update Utility COULD NOT installed the drivers that's why I am attempting to install them myself.

iv) My Wireless Adapter is the AC3160

v) My laptop is a S41-70, Model 80JU, S/N R90G1XY1, BIOS BDCN61WW and I have just installed the Windows10 Anniversary Update.

I believe this issue is related to the Anniversary Update as I have previously installed updates using the Intel Driver Update Utility without any problems.

Thanks.

Hello,

If you receive this error while trying to install any of the drivers using IDUU, or with manual downloads, it suggests a issue with the OS.

Have you checked if the issue happens when you try to install drivers for other devices, or from other vendors?

If this is the case, we would advise you to review the links posted before. In external websites, you may also find videos or documents from other users about manually creating the folders and take ownership of the folder to prevent the message "insufficient privileges to access this directory" when installing programs.

We advise you to try using the drivers from the http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/topics/oems.html Computer Manufacturer Support as first option, or test with http://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26148/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-and-Drivers-for-Windows-10?product=75442 Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Windows® 10, version 19.0.1.
