Intel 9260NGW Dual Band Bluetooth 5.0 802.11ac - No bluetooth in Linux

Hi All

Currently having issues with linux and any version of the linux kernel where the OS can't detect the bluetooth module on the Intel 9260NGW card.

It just fails to load the firmware, i emailed linuxwifi@intel.com to try and resolve the issue. They were very helpful but only deal with wifi issues and not bluetooth. I was asked to contact the linux bluetooth kernel team which i have done but am yet to receive a response.

I have tried updating the drivers and firmware from the git mentioned at this site

Unfortunately it only partially resolved the issue. Linux won't detect bluetooth on boot, but can detect it after being resumed from sleep/suspend.

I'm desperate along with others in this situation to try and get it resolved.

Is there anyone at intel i can get in contact with so i can work with them on trying to get this resolved?.

TP6, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support. Just to let you know, most of the generic wireless drivers that Intel® has are validated to work with Windows* and the drivers that we have available for Linux* are the ones showing in the link you gave us previously. In this case, we will try our best to find a solution for this scenario, , however, we cannot guarantee you for sure that the problem will get fix or that a solution will be provided. I appreciate you are trying to help.

I have visited that site and have emailed linuxwifi@intel.com, they tried to help but only deal with wifi issues and not bluetooth.

Again i need assistance with bluetooth. Can you give me a contact?, name, email of someone that can assist?.

I find it frustrating that a company the size of intel has no one on this planet that can help with bluetooth in linux.

It's stated in your website that AC9260 is compatible with Linux, so why don't you fix the driver instead of trying to pass the blame to others (The Linux community)?

The only reason why I bought this card is Linux compatibility. If I had known, I wouldn't have bought it.

I was having the same issue after upgrading from an Intel 3165 card to an Intel 9260. Upon going through some forums and bug posts, I came to know that it could be because of some BIOS boot sequence related issue which would not let the BT device to boot up (https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=202429#c4).

Is there any chance that you altered the default boot sequence in your BIOS? In my case, I had altered it to USB > SSD1 > SSD2 > LAN, so I tried resetting it to default i.e. SSD1 at the top of the boot order. Then after a reboot, YAY! bluetooth worked. I can now pair my laptop to other BT devices.

I am currently running Ubuntu 20.04 (development build) with Kernel version 5.4.0-14-generic. I have also downloaded and extracted the 9260 drivers from https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005511/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking.html and installed it in /lib/firmware.

UPDATE April 28, 2020:

The bluetooth stopped working all of a sudden again. This time I tried blocking the 2 pins and it worked. More info: https://forums.intel.com/s/question/0D70P000006hvVwSAI
