Hi,

Im trying to use my new intel ax200 wifi6 as a mobile hotspot from my PC so that i can connect my oculus quest to it, but after fiddling with the settings, i can only go up to 173mbps speed on the 5ghz network. How do i get this up to the full 5ghz speed?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Ismail1980,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

I would like to clarify that the wireless card supports this hotspot feature, but the speed might be different depending on the PC's capability, Operating System (OS), and your wireless speed plan (full speed from your service provider). It is expected not to have full speed through the hotspot as some bandwidth is lost for the connection to the router. You might want to check with Microsoft* or system manufacturer (OEM) for the expected bandwidth.

So we can check more details from your system and along with this behavior, please provide the following:

1. Run the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) and attach the report generated:

  • Open the application, check the "Everything" box, and click on "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel® SSU will take you to the "Summary View".
  • Click on the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".
  • To save your scan, click on "Next", then "Save".
  • Use the option under the reply window to attach the report to the thread (Drag and drop here or browse files to attach).

2. Provide the brand and full model number of your router/AP.

3. What is the speed plan you have with your service provider? And what speed would you like to accomplish with the hotspot?

4. Is this the original adapter that came pre-installed in your system or have you changed/installed a new adapter recently?
