Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 Upload speeds issue

Hello,

a few weeks ago I bought the new Dell XPS15 9560 laptop and replaced the standard Killer 1535 wireless card against the above mentioned Intel one.

So far I am satisfied concerning the overall connection stability etc. However, I have the following issue, I am unable to resolve:

As I backup my laptop regularly to my NAS in the local network via wifi, I especially need acceptable upload speeds.

I tested the upload- and download-speeds with the following parameters:

* close position to router (AVM 7490); signal strength very good

* connected via 5,2GHz

* no crowded wireless network or impact of other network participants

* Laptop: WIN10 1703, all recent updates and drivers installed

* transferred file: one 1,2GB movie file (no fragmented little data pieces)

* NAS: FreeNAS 9.10 connected to router

* no energy saving settings activated; all on high performance

Download speed from server to laptop: 500-550 Mbit/s (very nice)

Upload speed from laptop to server: 140 Mbit/s (unacceptable)

When I transfer data via gigabit ethernet cable, I get 970 Mbit/s upload and around 970 Mbit/s download rate, so the NAS shoould not be the bottleneck here.

Where is the culprit? I am trying to find a solution to this for almost two weeks now and so far nothing helped!

Thanks a lot in advance.

Regards

Hello Bl4ckShadow,

We understand you replaced the Wireless adapter in your PC with an Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 and the upload speed from your NAS is not the one expected.

Please keep in mind that Intel does not support, nor recommends end users install or upgrade the various Intel® Wireless Adapter, since this may lead to installation errors, connection issues, software error messages, and in some cases it may even be illegal.

You should always contact the http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/topics/OEMs.html Computer Manufacturer Support or its authorized representative to confirm compatibility and have it replaced with them whenever possible. For more information, please check the following advisories:

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005687.html Regulatory Information Regarding Hardware Installation or Upgrade

In our best effort, here are some items for your consideration:

- Make sure you remove old drivers and software from the Dell* wireless adapter.

- Install https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26782/Wireless-Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-and-Drivers-for-Windows-10-?product=94150 Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Windows® 10* [19.60.0].

- Apply the http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005544.html Recommended Settings for 802.11n Connectivity.

- Review the QOS configuration of your Wireless access point, make sure WMM is enabled, also, disable bandwidth control features or any other type of white-lists. If they will be enabled, you can set high priority for the AC 8265 (please check with the AP manufacturer for details about this).

Regards,
