Intel My Wifi - Centrino 6200N - BSOD

First let me say that I have updated all drivers to their latest versions (as far as I can tell), and have no other issues with my wireless connection.

So here's the problem:

Using Intel My Wifi, I attempt to connect my Motorola Droid phone to my computer with ICS enabled. My laptop is connected to a LAN via copper, and I am using My Wifi as a mobile hotspot. I am actually able to connect, get an IP, and transfer data on my phone via wireless. After maybe 10 seconds, I get a BSOD, showing DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.

EDIT: I should also mention this happens when I use the software Connectify as well (known to be buggy, so I initially thought it might be that).

Here is the output of the crash dump file:

I have a similar issue - but not the same.

When I put the computer to sleep, RANDOMLY, it hangs then BSODs.

The BSOD view points to NETwNs64.sys.

The issue is related to a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE - 9F error.

HP8540W with 6300N adapter.

W7 x64 Ultimate

I have the latest of drivers and updates.

No Idea??????????????????/

Ive got Win 7 64bit Home SP1

Using ICS without Intel My WiFi software.

ICS is connecting my external USB Clear wireless to my "virtual" Intel Centrino 6250 AGN

I have tried:

Set all network adapters to not use power management.

Turned off motherboard "realtek" ethernet.

I connect to the hotspot hosted by virtual miniport adapter using my droid 2 and after a little http browsing I get the BSOD.

netwns64.sys 13.5.0.6

Yep, that's exactly what's happening on mine.

It's amazing no one has commented other than "yeah, me too".

There is obviously an issue with the 64bit drivers, anyone in the know care to enlighten us?

"We're working on it" is an acceptable answer (for me, at least).

I have the exact same problem on my Thinkpad Win 7 ultimate 64-bit, though my drivers are even more recent version 14.0.. 04/01/2011, and I still have the problem. I hope that they are working on this. I hope there are new drivers forthcoming, this problem is very bad.

I also have a brand new Dell L502X laptop with Centrino Advanced-N 6230 and have been having a lot of BSOD while connecting to Wi Fi.

The BSOD shows DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and that the bug is related to NETwNs64.sys. Has anyone had any luck solving this issue?

Any ideas or suggestions will be really appreciated.

Let me also join this me-too group. I have an HP Elitebook 8540p with Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and HP Softpad has been urging me to "upgrade" the 6200N driver and software to version 14.0. But everytime I followed this advice, I got a BSOD before the log on screen was seen. Fortunately, the computer allowed me to log on after a reboot, and eventually I "downgraded" the driver to version 13.4 and the computer was fine again.

The BSOD screen also indicated that there was some problem with NETwNs64.sys.

Suppose the more info the better, and it keeps this thread alive.

I have an Alienware M15X laptop with an Intel Wifi Link 5300. I've been using it since April without the My WiFi software (although I knew the entire time it could perform the My WiFi functions, I hadn't found out how).

A few days ago, I found the software on Intel's website to activate the My WiFi and enable internet sharing. Things were going alright for a few minutes with my HTC Evo 4G connected, but suddenly my laptop blue screened. I restarted, got everything running again, and re-enabled internet connection sharing. Sure enough, a few minutes later it crashed again. Since then I've been running it without ICS enabled, and it's been completely stable.

Any fixes or driver updates would be awesome!

I went to...

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=19514&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%207%2C%2064-bit*&DownloadType=Software%20Applications http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=19514&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%207%2C%2064-bit*&DownloadType=Software%20Applications

Downloaded the ICS_s64.exe

Make a system restore point.

Uninstall the Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6200 AGN adapter fro the device manager.

Restart your computer.

I then double clicked on ICS_s64.exe, choose custon to make sure everything was going to be installed. I then installed and restarted one last time. I then connected and everything seems to be working fine

Same exact problem here.

Brand new Sony VAIO VPCS132GX.

Internet connection is Wired, and I share the connection using Intel's My WiFi from Intel PROSet Wireless Software 13.5.0 (it seems 14.1.1 discontinued support for the 6200 hardware).

Connecting my Droid phone works fine for a while, but immediately upon starting "Good for Enterprise" on the phone, the laptop BSODs in NETwNs64.sys.

I get the same BSOD as everyone else.

netwns64.sys causing the problem.

When I enable the my wifi, it does nothing on first click. Then when I click it again to enable it, BSOD shows up right away.

I have a Sony Vaio SA with all updated drivers from Sony. I have a intel 6205 wifi card, and I'm running Windows x64 professional.

So, has this problem been solved yet?

same issue here with Centrino 6200 AGN on HP Pavilion DV6t-2300 running win7 x64 SP1. We've been having it ever since we upgraded smartphones and use hotspot on them. whenever Centrino wifi card (all possible drivers tested) tries connecting to wifi hotspot on fast android smartphone, 1-2 minutes later a BSOD D1 pointing to NETwNs64.sys every time.

I'm done with it, I will pull out that wifi card and smash it with a hammer. just ordered Atheros BGN mini PCIe card off ebay ($4 shipped), no more Intel wifi cards for me ever. It's the second Intel Centrino wifi adapter that caused me so much grief.

Centrino 6200/6300 series is as useless as another Intel wifi card (model 4200?) I used to have on old Toshiba Satellite laptop long time ago, back then going with Atheros was the cure too. Intel doesn't know how to make wifi adapters!

so many years, same bugs (unstable speeds, BSOD under load, power saving issues driver dependent), it's a joke. Intel should stick to making CPUs, LAN adapters & SSDs, they make fools of themselves with their Centrino wifi adapters.

I'm having the exact same issue.

6205 Lenovo X1 Carbon.

As soon as I Tether to my Sprint HTC EVO LTE I get a BSOD a few seconds later.

Tried direct from Intel version 15.4 dated 1/23/2013

Worked fine on my Lenovo T420 also with a 6205 but had older drivers 14.3 dated 10/27/2011 and no Bluetooth.

I will try to find older drivers.

Similar issue here :

Windows 7 (64-bit) + Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN

BSOD with WiFi tethering with Nexus 4. The crashes happens within a few seconds of establishing the connection.

Thank you for posting.

It seems this could be related to operating system corruption.

Please try the following:

A. Uninstall all the wireless software

B. Run all the windows updates

If you've followed the above steps and are continuing to experience this issue this error can also be caused by a bad virtual memory page file. To correct this issue follow the below steps:

  1. Click http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/s/start.htm Start, Settings, http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/c/controlp.htm Control Panel, and Open the System icon.
  2. In the System Properties window click the Advanced http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/t/tab.htm tab.
  3. Click the Settings http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/p/pushbutt.htm button under Performance.
  4. Click the Advanced tab.
  5. Click the Change button under Virtual Memory.
  6. Select No paging file and then click each of the Ok buttons until all windows are closed.
  7. Restart Windows.
  8. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, and Open the System icon.
  9. In the System Properties window click the Advanced tab.
  10. Click the Settings button under Performance.
  11. Click the Advanced tab.
  12. Click the Change button under Virtual Memory.
  13. Click System managed size and then click each of the Ok buttons until all windows are closed.

C. Install the latest Intel® driver for the wireless adapter and try again.

That has to be the dumbest suggestion I've ever seen posted on a technical forum.

A corrupt swap file, that ONLY causes the WIFI to fail ONLY when tethered to an Android device and does not cause any other issues.

I really hope you don't work for Intel, because we are in big trouble if you do.

I have same problem from HP Elitebook 8540p (Win 64). Connection to Android hotspot causes BSOD. This happens regardless of other connections. A tablet can use the hotspot just fine. This seams like an obvious driver issue, is Intel working on a fix? This was working on v14.x drivers previously.
