Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 Unable to connect to any network

I recently bought a wireless card with Wireless-AC 7265 as an upgrade, and so far I have not been able to connect to a network that isn't an unsecured shared connection, I have installed the proset drivers from the current latest available drivers (19.51.18.1), and have done a diagnostic using the system support utility in advance, which I have attached to this question

Furthermore, whenever I try to connect to a network, I see those errors in the windows event log (translated from french): "The network card returned an invalid value to the driver"

ALeng1, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support. In order for us to provide the most accurate assistance, we just wanted to confirm a few details about your system: What is the model of the motherboard? If this is a laptop, what is the model of it? Is this a new computer? Did yo make any recent hardware/software changes? Was it working fine before? The wireless card, did you purchased it separately to replace the one that came installed in the computer? When did the issue start? Did you check with your Internet service provider to make sure the Internet is working properly? The problem happens at home or work environment? Do you have the option to test a different router? We can always try a clean installation of the Intel® generic wireless driver: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000022173/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking.html Intel® wireless driver 20.110.0: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28503/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-and-Drivers-for-Windows-10?product=83635 Regards, Alberto R. Hi ! Thanks for answering !

> What is the model of the motherboard?

It is an ASRock B85M Pro4

> Is this a new computer?

It is a computer built in 2014

> Did yo make any recent hardware/software changes?

This adapter is the only change it has gotten since it was built

> Was it working fine before?

The Previous adapter was a TPLink 300Mbps, and it worked without any issues

> The wireless card, did you purchased it separately to replace the one that came installed in the computer?

Yes, along with a PCIe to PCI adapter, if it makes any difference

> When did the issue start?

Ever since I've replaced it

> Did you check with your Internet service provider to make sure the Internet is working properly?

It works jsust fine on my phone and when I swap the adapter back to the old one

> The problem happens at home or work environment?

Home environment

> Do you have the option to test a different router?

I do not sadly

Hi ALeng1, You are very welcome. Since what you are doing is an integration of the Intel® Wireless card, there is an important information that we need to let you know: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000007443/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking.html https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005687/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking.html We recommend to install the wireless driver provided by the manufacturer of the computer, since that driver was customized by them work with your specific platform. You mentioned that you installed wirless driver version latest available drivers (19.51.18.1), is that the driver provided by ASRock? There is a newer Intel wireless driver version that we can try to install 20.120.0: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28241/Windows-10-Wi-Fi-Drivers-for-Intel-Wireless-Adapters?product=83635 Regards, Alberto R. That driver version if the one available in the 20.120.0 package (19.51.18.1 for 7265(Rev. D))

I was able to find a version of proset 16.5.3, unfortunaly, installing it doesn't seem to change the driver version (when choosing from the available drivers in my pc, the earliest I can get is version 17 from february 2015, which doesn't even show me any network)

So this is making me guess that this card isn't fully compatible with my motherboard, if that's correct I'll switch back to the old one and hold on to this one until I change the motherboard

ALeng1 Thank you very much for letting us know those updates, we are sorry to hear the issue persists. Yes, in this case, it seems to be that there is a compatibility problem for this specific integration that you are trying to build, between the Intel® Wireless card and the motherboard/laptop. What we recommend at this point is to get in contact directly with ASrock for them to provide further suggestions on this matter and a possible solution for this problem: https://www.asrock.com/SUPPORT/index.asp Regards, Alberto R. Alright, I'll go there and see if I can find anything that shows what's supported by it, since there was no wifi related drivers in the page for the motherboard I have, which is weird

In any case, I am planning on upgrading the big parts soon, so this isn't a big loss (the PCIe to PCI adapter I got with it might be the only loss here)

Thanks for the help and the directions !
