Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX211 160MHz drops Wi-Fi regularly and generates four event viewer logs, Netwtw14

Good evening,

I am having the same problem as the originator of this thread: https://community.intel.com/t5/Wireless/Intel-R-Wi-Fi-6-AX201-160MHz-drops-Wi-Fi-regularly-and-generates/td-p/1557025/page/2

My wi-fi drops frequently when on 5Ghz, works perfectly on 2.4.  Every time it drops my event logs show the same pile of warnings the previous author was experiencing.  Most notably "The description for Event ID 6062 from source Netwtw14 cannot be found."

I've taken all the recommended steps I can find in the many forums where people describe this issue.  Updated my bios, clean driver install, cold boot, recommended settings, etc.  Nothing works.

Any assistance you can provide would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Bryson

Hello, Bryson.

Thank you for patiently waiting.

To resolve the issue with your AX211 advanced settings, please follow these steps:

  1. Change the MIMO Power Save Mode setting from "Auto SMPS (0)" to "No SMPS".
  2. If the issue persists, please ensure the following:
  • All 8 antennas of your Ignite WiFi Gateway modem are properly connected (4 for 2.4 GHz and 4 for 5 GHz).
  • Temporarily disconnect any phone ports.
  • Disable WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) on the modem.

Additionally, from the event log indicating that SSID=Mewtwo-5 has shown "Wireless security stopped," please check the following settings on your Ignite WiFi Gateway modem:

  • Management Frame Protection
  • FIPS Mode settings
  • Authentication methods (ensure using Open System, WPA-Personal, or WPA2-Personal as needed)
  • Encryption settings (ensure the correct settings are applied)

For further assistance, please consult the Ignite WiFi Gateway modem support for detailed guidance on these settings.

Also, from the SSU log you shared, SSID Mewtwo-5 uses CH157. If you're using the 5 GHz bands, use channels 36, 40, 44, or 48. The laptop directly connects to the modem SSID without using any wireless extender.

I'm also experiencing the exact same issue with the AX210 160MHz Wifi 6E card. Only started experiencing this issue randomly today; dropouts, slow 5GHz speeds but perfectly fine 2.4GHz speeds. No trouble with ethernet either. This device is the only one affected. No troubleshooting steps work. Did anyone ever find a solution to this problem?

It ended up being an incompatibility with my modem.  The modem wasn't solely at fault (no other devices were affected, and I tried a variety of computers and handheld devices and gaming consoles), but once I swapped out the modem the problem stopped.

Hope that helps.
