Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX200 Continuous Transmit Mode in Linux

Hello, we are using the AX200 Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module in an embedded Linux system. Our goal is to put it in continuous transmit mode for emissions testing. In other words, we want the module to temporarily broadcast as much noise/energy as possible.

We currently have the iwlwifi driver installed, but it doesn't seem to offer any lower-level radio control.

See below for a snippet of "modinfo iwlwifi" output. None of the parameters seems to deal with lower-level radio control.

parm: swcrypto:using crypto in software (default 0 [hardware]) (int)
parm: 11n_disable:disable 11n functionality, bitmap: 1: full, 2: disable agg TX, 4: disable agg RX, 8 enable agg TX (uint)
parm: amsdu_size:amsdu size 0: 12K for multi Rx queue devices, 2K for AX210 devices, 4K for other devices 1:4K 2:8K 3:12K (16K buffers) 4: 2K (default 0) (int)
parm: fw_restart:restart firmware in case of error (default true) (bool)
parm: nvm_file:NVM file name (charp)
parm: uapsd_disable:disable U-APSD functionality bitmap 1: BSS 2: P2P Client (default: 3) (uint)

parm: led_mode:0=system default, 1=On(RF On)/Off(RF Off), 2=blinking, 3=Off (default: 0) (int)
parm: power_save:enable WiFi power management (default: disable) (bool)
parm: power_level:default power save level (range from 1 - 5, default: 1) (int)
parm: disable_11ac:Disable VHT capabilities (default: false) (bool)
parm: remove_when_gone:Remove dev from PCIe bus if it is deemed inaccessible (default: false) (bool)
parm: disable_11ax:Disable HE capabilities (default: false) (bool)

Are there Linux-based supporting applications that can helps us accomplish our goal?

Hello wuz7

Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities. We would be more than glad to help you with your issue.

In order to have a better understanding of your issue, please provide me with the following:

1.      Is this the original adapter that came pre-installed in your system, or have you changed/installed a new adapter recently?

2.      Have you explored any alternative drivers or modules for the AX200?

3.      Can you provide details about the emissions testing setup and requirements?

4.      Have you considered reaching out to the Linux community or forums for similar issues?

5.      Are there specific emission standards or regulations you need to comply with?

6.      Have you tested the module on a different Linux distribution?

7.      Can you share any error messages or logs related to the issue?

8.      What specific functionality or control are you looking for in the lower-level radio that is currently lacking?

9.      Have you consulted the AX200 module documentation for any additional insights?

10.  Is there any specific reason for choosing continuous transmit mode for emissions testing?

SSU: Please download and scan your system using our tool, Intel® System Support Utility so we can help check your system info first. Once finished downloading, open the tool, click on scan 'Everything', click next, then save the system information to a .txt file. Please provide the .txt file.

This document will be necessary to check your entire system, in order to find possible errors or incompatibilities.
