Intel® Wireless-AC 9560 crash with kernel updates

Hello,

 

This is a continuation for the closed thread

In response to the questions asked there,

1. Laptop

2. original wireless adapter

3. No

4. i reinstalled kernel 5.15, copied the latest firmware from 

https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/tree/

@siva3 to continue with the investigation there is some information that we need, please share with us the results of the following commands:

  1. lspci 
  2. modinfo iwlwifi 
  3. lsmod | grep iwlwifi​, if the result is empty, please type: dmesg | grep iwlwifi​
  4. dmesg | grep “no suitable firmware found!”​
  5. dmesg | grep ASSERT​
  6. Complete dmesg logs: dmesg > dmesg.log

Hello @siva3


After checking the information provided it seems that there might be a hardware problem with the newer kernel, and the AC9560 randomly fails to be initialized. Here are some workarounds that may help:

Other options you can try are: 

  1. Try to perform a full power cycle to remove the battery and unplug/plug charger; or check with system manufacturer to fully reset the system.
  2. Roll back to the older kernel or BIOS version in which AC9560 used to be working.

If none of the steps work, please contact the system manufacturer for further assistance.
