ThePorg, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.

In order for us to provide the most accurate assistance on this scenario, we just wanted to confirm a few details about your system:

What is the model of the motherboard?

If this is a laptop, what is the model of it?

What is the model of the Router?

Is this a new computer?

When did you purchase it?

Was the wireless connection working fine before at 433 Mbps?

If so, when did the issue start?

Did you make any recent hardware/software changes that might cause this issue?

The wireless card, did you purchase it separately or did it come installed on the computer?

Which Windows* version are you using?

Does the problem happen at home or in the work environment?

Please attach the SSU report so we can verify further details about the components in your platform, check all the options in the report including the one that says "3rd party software logs":

Hi Albert, thank you for supporting me.

This is my laptop Dell Vostro 5568, the wireless card was installed on board. I'm using Windows 10 Home Single Language. The Model of motherboard is DELL 0HG2TP. I had used my laptop for 3 years ago. My router support 2.4Ghz and 5.0 Ghz both. When I connect the internet by LAN cable, speed get 1Gbps. And if I only use wireless card, speed just get 390 Mbps max. I want to reach max of speed wireless card (AC 3165), please help, many thanks.

Hi ThePorg, You are very welcome, thank you very much for providing that information.

We always recommend to install the wireless driver provided by the manufacturer of the computer, since that driver was heavily customized by them to work with your specific platform.

I looked on Dell's website and the latest wireless driver they have available in there is version 22.100.0.3, A16. Please try a clean installation of that driver following the instructions in the links below:

https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/vostro-15-5568-laptop/drivers

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000022173/wireless.html

If the problem remains after that then, even though the Intel® graphics drivers are generic and they might not work as expected with your specific device, for testing purposes you can try a clean installation this time of Intel® graphics driver version 19.51.40.1:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19351/windows-10-and-windows-11-wi-fi-drivers-for-intel-wireless-adapters.html?wapkw=intel%20dual%20band%20wireless%20ac%203165

In the link below you will also find the "Advanced Intel® Wireless Adapter Settings" in order to test if by changing any of those options you will be able to work with the wireless connection at 433 Mbps again:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005585/wireless/legacy-intel-wireless-products.html

Additionally, we also suggest to get in contact directly with Dell Support to make sure the latest BIOS version is currently installed on your machine or, if necessary, to gather the instructions on how to do that:

If the issue persists, please attach the SSU report so we can verify further details about the components in your platform, check all the options in the report including the one that says "3rd party software logs":

So we're talking about the difference between a 433Mb/s limit and a 390Mb/s actual? This can be explained by the quality of the antenna and its proper connection to the Wireless card, connection limits caused by interference outside the chassis, etc. and etc. For starters, I would disconnect the antenna leads from the wireless card and then reconnect them (i.e., reseating process). You could also use a cell phone with a network analysis app to look at whether there is any interference.

Hope this helps,

Hi Scott, thank for your idea. Please see my situation. I connect to modem by using wireless adapter, wifi speed status is 390 Mbps, and if I use ethernet cable is 1Gbps.

I'm not sure I see any point to your statement. There's wired and there's wireless; each has no bearing on the other. If you have a PC that is close enough, by all means use the wired connection. If not, then use wireless.

Your wireless card is limited to a maximum of 433Mb/s. If you are only connecting at 390Mb/s, then you have an antenna/interference issue. Have you tried moving the PC right up next to the router to see if you can ever get a 433Mb/s connection?

Is this card removable? There are plenty of replacement cards that can do far better and typically for less than US$30. For example, Intel's Wireless-AC 9260 is capable of 1733Mb/s connections (if both GHz bands utilized). Better yet, if you have a WiFi6/Wireless-AX router, Intel's WiFi 6 AX200 card is capable of 2400Mb/s connections.

Scott, thank for your advise. I will replace this card in the future when I have enough money :))). I think it is Wifi 6 AX200 ^^.
