Intel Wireless-N 7260 in Sony Vaio Pro won't connect to N and drops out at ~20m

I have recently purchased a Sony Vaio Pro 13" which is great. The issue I have with it is that my wireless card refuses to connect to N networks and drops out at about 20-30m range. I have the latest drivers (16.0.5.3) and I'm running Windows 8. Any help on fixing this issue would be greatly appreciated!

You may try reinstalling the driver, updating the router's firmware and verifying the recommended settings as per articles below. In case the issue persists, the best suggestion is to contact the system manufacturer for further assistance.
