Intel wifi 6e ax211 doesn't obtaining DHCP on WiFi / Looses connection if it gets an IP

Hey,

So i am making this post now after reading at least 10 others.

I am running a : Lenovo T16 Gen2 Type 21HH

Windows 11 24H2
Also had the same issues with Windows 11 23H2

Depending on driver i get 1 out of 2 issues.

With drivers : 23.60.1.2 , 23.100.0.0 , 22.250.1.2

I can connect to 2.4ghz networks most of the time.

While some networks i can still connect to but i wont get a DHCP response so it has some kind of connection but it does not work.

With driver : 22.240.0

I can connect to all networks but it keeps loosing connectivity windows states it is connected but i cannot ping anything.

I have done a clean reinstallation of the driver every time.

Right now i am running : 22.250.1.2 which is the one i can connect to most networks with but at the companys Ruckus R500 i wont get an IP.
At the same time colleagues with the same wifi card gets an IP but loose connection.
Other wifi cards has 0 issues.

Best regards

Hi, SecraZ.

Thank you for posting in our Community and for sharing the detailed information. I understand you're experiencing some connectivity issues with various drivers on your Lenovo T16 Gen2. Based on what you've mentioned, the inconsistent performance across different drivers suggests there may be an underlying compatibility or configuration issue with either the drivers or the network environment.

I’m curious about the connection you're using. Could you confirm the exact configuration of the Ruckus R500 access point? Are there any specific settings, such as security protocols or band steering, that could be affecting the connection? When you experience the DHCP issue (when it connects but doesn’t get an IP), is there any specific error message you see? Or does it just fail to assign an IP after a certain time?

Have a nice day!

Hi,

Sorry if i might sound blunt or snappy have been fighting this wifi issues now at home at work on my phones shared wifi and at a customer.

So i checked and we do not have any special security just password protected and then DHCP server behind it.

My homerouter is not running anything special either and my phone even without a password when it stops working it wont work.

This is NOT a 3rd party issue it is your drivers since the issue appeared after 22.250 for like EVERYONE in all the posts in this forum.

I Urge you please make a functional driver.

Every other laptop that is not running this card has 0 issues so it is either hardware fault in the wifi card or the driver.

My guess is the driver.

But please if you have any suggestions that will work with todays drivers please tell cause i am loosing hair by the minute

Hi, SecraZ.

I completely understand that. Let's work together to resolve this issue. I appreciate you for providing details about your network setup. It seems like the problem might be linked to the recent driver update. Since this is an OEM (Lenovo T16 Gen2 Type 21HH) original equipment manufacturer device, please take into consideration that our support may be limited since we are not familiar with the technology, settings, customizations, custom drivers, and features that the OEM has designed and installed your system, nevertheless, I will do my best to assist you with your concern.

In the meantime, I will need to do further research on this matter and post the response on this thread once available.

Hi Von M,

Ok so now right now i am running an old driver and it worked for 2 days straight i could connect to my home network wich runs on a

TP-Link Archer AXE75 AXE5400 Tri-Band WiFi6E Router.

I have not changed anything from original settings on the router except splitting up 6ghz 5ghz and 2.4ghz since i could not obtain an IP adress at all before.
Now i cannot receive an IP adress on none from the networks.

We can work with that router also OEM "custom drivers" is Intel drivers without Intel programs only.

Also as i have stated my colleagues with other brands have the same issue and a quick google on the network card shows it is a widespread problem with this specific kind of card.

But i am guessing you would want me to do a clean install of the wifi driver again?

Hello, SecraZ.

Since you've already split the 6GHz, 5GHz, and 2.4GHz bands on your router to help with the IP address issue, it seems like you're doing everything correctly on that front. The fact that other colleagues with different brands are experiencing similar issues could indicate a compatibility problem with the specific WiFi card you have, as you mentioned.

As for the next steps, I recommend upgrading to the latest Wi-Fi driver package, version 23.110.0

Hi VonM_Intel,

So the new driver has a 90% success rate yet.

I could connect to both mobilephones hotspot, the office hotels wifi, and i did not get an IP from our own wifi trough the ruckus AP.
Though this worked with doing an "ipconfig /renew" but as soon as i DC and reconnect i need to renew it again to get an ip.

So far so good.

After around 1-2 hours i started getting another issue that i have had during this troubleshooting done by myself until i wrote the post.
I started to not have any net.

Ipconfig /all still looked fine ive had not lost the IP adress.
But i could not ping anything.

Found a solution for that on superuser forum.

networking - Connectivity issues with Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6E AX211 160MHz - Super User

"

I had the exact same problem with this exact network adapter and I fixed it using the following solution:

In the advanced properties of the network adapter in device manager, I've changed the bandwidth setting from Auto to 20 MHz for 5 and 6 GHz"

After changing even that now i have a stable connection buuut i still need to do ipconfig /renew for me to get an IP and that actually takes around 20-40 seconds. but yeah for now it works gonna test my home network tonight.

Hello, SecraZ.

Testing your home network tonight sounds like a good plan. It's great to hear that the new driver has a 90% success rate and that you've found a temporary workaround by using ipconfig /renew.

Regarding the issue where you lose internet connectivity after 1-2 hours despite having an IP address, changing the bandwidth set to 20 MHz for 5 and 6 GHz seems to have helped stabilize your connection. However, needing to renew the IP address each time is still a concern.

Please keep me updated on your progress, and feel free to reach out if you need further assistance.

Sorry for late response had to take care of sick kids.

The IP adress renewal was not needed after changing to 20mhz on both 5ghz network and 6ghz network.

My home network works fine also.

So the new driver with the modification of setting it to 20mhz only worked perfectly.
