Linux, Centrino Wireless - N 1000 BGN/ How do I get this working on a laptop running Yakaty Yak. (Ubuntu latest)?

I am trying to get the WiFi on my brothers HP pavilion laptop to work. The crappy Windows OS was replaced with Kubuntu Yakaty Yak. I had the same problem on my lap top but the firmware I added to fix mine didn't work on his. Not surprised since his is a different version. The firmware did enable it to see the access point, but it still can't connect. Maybe there is a different firmware package that he needs. Please give me the name, so I can tell APT to install it. It's probably in the distro's repos. I just need the package name please.

Hello steve7233,

We understand you are having some issues when installing the Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1000 in Linux. Please be aware that for drivers and other issues with Linux, you may check the https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi Linux Community page, or dedicated forums for this OS.

Also, we would like to mention that the N 1000 has reached End of Interactive Support, as noted in the document: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000006507.html Customer Support Options for Discontinued Intel® Wireless Products.

In our best effort, you can find Firmware download links and other relevant information in the following advisory: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005511.html Linux* Support for Intel® Wireless Adapters.

We hope this information is helpful for you.

Regards,

Jonathan B.
