N 7260 Support for Linux Kernel 5.3.0

I recently install Linux Mint 19.3 Trica on my machine. I received a message that the N 7260 chip was not supported and needs a non-generic driver. I see that Intel does not provide a driver for this chip for this kernel.

I do not only see the 2.4 GHz network, and not the 5 GHz network.

Are there plans to support this kernel for this chip?

My system information is listed below.

Albert R:

Thank you for your response.

I downloaded iwlwifi-7260-ucode-25.30.14.0.tgz and then copied iwlwifi-7260-14.ucode to /lib/firmware as directed in the README. Then I restarted my system.

I see the following message in the log file:

Intel(R) Wireless WiFi driver for Linux

i assume this means that the driver is in place. I still do not see the 5MHz band. Is it possible that the dual band is not seen by the hardware?

Thanks,

Jim

Is it possible you do not have the dual band version?

Albert R.

Thank you for your follow up. My wifi is working well on 2.4 GHz. Going back and looking at the laptop specs, I believe that it was single band hardware. Please mark this inquiry resolved.

Glad all is ok. It can be confusing with these model numbers.

Not sure what you mean. I spotted a spammer in the thread, responded, and flaged his post (which is gone now).
