PCIe vs CNVio and CNVio 2

I am not happy with the nonsense over CNVio and CNVio 2 as this really is an insult to established standards. PCIe x2 is the standard for the WiFi card slot. Similarly the M.2 slot for A SSD is x4.

Retrofitting laptops is a real headache as I have to select the right model to modernize around WiFi 6 or WiFi 7.

Trying a card in an i3-9100 went nowhere so I installed a PCIe x1 card instead to achieve WiFi 7 capability.

I am so incensed over incompatible slots that violate Canadian law. The competition act applies to all vendors.

I have currently Asus Rog Scar Strix II GL704 GW laptop with Intel WI-FI AC 9660 wireless card. I want to know if my laptop model is suitable for the Intel® Wi-Fi 6E AX210 upgrade? I have already ordered one on Ebay. Does anyone here have an experience upgrading these cards on Asus Rog laptops?

@Carbonit   You need to be consulting with ASUS regarding any laptop wireless upgrade.

windows_guru mentioned here that he has some experience swapping out old WI-FI cards to AX210 on 8th gen machines. I doubt if Asus support could help me with that. Main question is does PCIe cad will work on CNVIo interface here?

The issue is that there have been some cases where the implementation of the PCIe M.2 CNVio socket was such that you could not install a non-CNVi adapter like the AX210. This is why Al told you to consult Asus about their implementation and whether this has been verified (one way or the other).
