Hi, I changed my WLAN device into AC7260 from N2230.

My laptop is HP Envy 15-j104ax, which is AMD processor.

I have heard that AMD processor has a compatibility problem with Intel WLAN device, but I don't think so.

First of all, my device' bluetooth is working well.

I can tether in bluetooth with my mobile, and even BT headset connected well.

However, Wi-Fi doesn't work.

In Control Panel, I can see Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 with nothing error. (Pic1)

But, I cannot see MAC address in cmd -ipconfig (Pic2)

My wifi doesn't work, and No MAC Address.

I exchanged my ac7260 as same problem.

So, this device must be stable device.

* No problem with driver. I re-installed many times.

I'll attach the picture.

Thanks.

Hello bssj0822,

We understand you've replaced the original wireless card for the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 + Bluetooth*, For this kind of procedure is always recommended to contact the manufacturer of your computer as they are the only ones entitled to provide a list of approved, tested and certified adapters that are compatible with your system as the manufacturer customized the adapters by including or removing features, change voltage...etc.

Intel does not support integrations, which is the replacement of the original card for another one, please take a look at the links below for more detailed information on this matter.

First, thanks for your opinion.

I read them all and I understanded about the reasons why wlan adaptor doesn't work.

But, I cannot find the reason which is appropriate with my adaptor.

HP laptop - maybe especially my laptop - doesn't have whitelists about wireless adaptor.

Moreover, booting is going well, and as the uploaded picture, I can find the driver in Control panel and even in CMD.

Most of all, Bluetooth Works!

So, I think it is not hardware problem.

In Windows 8.1 Settings app, I can find this adaptor in Network Section. (Pic 1)

So, please give me another solution.

Thanks.

Hello bssj0822,

At this point, it is important that you contact your computer manufacturer as they are the only ones that can provide you a list of approved, tested and validated adapters that are compatible with the system you have and if they have any drivers that would help resolve the issue.

Thanks for opinion

I asked to HP support community, and HP says that AMD processor laptop doesn't supports AC7260.

Thanks.

I have 2 computers with AMD processors and Intel AC 7260 cards working just fine in each, but one of those computers had the same problem you're having except for one driver version (17.0.0 worked). A BIOS update on that computer resulted in all the other driver versions working also.

Driver version 17.0.0 worked for me, but all the more recent versions caused that same error for me.

So try this driver

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/23707/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-for-Windows-8-1- 17.0.0 for Windows 8.1 from the Intel® Download Center

Whether that driver works or not, you might want to make sure you have the most recent officially released BIOS for your computer.

I hope that helps you and I hope Intel will read this or the e-mail I sent to Support and make their drivers more tolerant or at least advise people who are having the same problem that the older driver might work for them.
