Random disconnects with Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265

We have deployed HP Elite desktops and found a few units have difficulties connecting to WiFi AP. The issue is that the wireless disconnects and it takes a couple of seconds or minutes to re-connect back.

The Windows event log is flooded with these entries when the WiFi fails to connect. Intel WiFi 8265 keeps resetting:

<S N="Message">The network interface "Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265" has begun resetting. There will be a momentary disruption in network connectivity while the hardware resets. Reason: The network driver requested that it be reset. This network interface has reset 1791 time(s) since it was last initialized.</S><S N="Message">Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 : Has encountered an internal error and has failed.</S><S N="Message">Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 : Has determined that the network adapter is not functioning properly.</S>

Driver has been updated to the latest version but we are still experiencing this issue.

After additional debug we found that reducing the signal strength will reduce the amount of disconnects but we are still experiencing the issue.

Any recommendations or debugging tool that we can use for this issue?

RGuzm5, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support. In order for us to provide the most accurate assistance, we just wanted to confirm a few details about your system: What is the specific model of the computer? Is this a new computer? Did you make any recent hardware/software changes? Was it working fine before? The wireless card, did you purchased it separately or did it came installed in the computer? When did the issue start? Which Windows* version are you using? Did you check with your Internet service provider to make sure the Internet is working properly? Does the problem happen at home or work environment? Even though you mentioned that the wireless driver was updated, we can also try a clean installation of the Intel® generic wireless driver: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000022173/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking.html Please test Intel® Wireless driver version 21.0.0: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28687/Windows-10-Wi-Fi-Drivers-for-Intel-Wireless-Adapters?product=94150 Regards, Alberto R.
