Wi-Fi Location on Intel WLAN cards based on 802.11mc

Hello!

On the Internet there is a lot of information that the newest Intel WLAN adapters like 8260 and 8265 support Wi-Fi Certified Location using Fine Time Measurement (FTM) based on 802.11REVmc. I am very interested in doing some experiments with this technology, but I could not find any practical information how to begin. Maybe someone in this group know if there is something like reference project, source code examples or any other practical information regarding Wi-Fi location solutions based on 802.11mc?

Thank you in advance for any clue,

Andy Z.

Hello Andy Z.,

In order to receive assistance with your query, we can recommend engaging the https://software.intel.com/en-us/forum Intel® Developer Zone, reaching out to our https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/design/resource-design-center.html Resource and Design Center for development with Intel®, or posting to our /community/tech/iot-gateway Intel® IoT Gateway Support Community.

We hope this information helps.

Hello Carlos A.,

Thank you for your answer. I will try to explore resources that you mentionded.

I found out that Intel has a lot of different departments and sometimes it is difficult to reach the suitable one. This indors location technology implemented in 8260 WLAN adapter is presented in this Intel's material:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/wireless-network/indoor-wifi-location-tracking.html Never Get Lost Inside the Office Again

Maybe you can refer me to the correct division where I could obtain some technical details about this technology?

Best regards,

Andy Z.

Hello Andy Z.,

The Resource & Design Center is a good place to start. It's simple to submit a request, which is then handled by the appropriate team accordingly. I believe this channel may be best suited to provide the information and tools that you're looking for.

However, if your interest is to integrate the wireless adapter into an embedded device (other than your average laptop, phone, or desktop computer) to take advantage of the 802.11mc standard, then the IoT Gateway might be a better choice.

Best regards,

Hello Andy,

It seems they're currently making some changes to that page, it used to be a big blue button that could not be missed.

This link should work:
