Wi-Fi option entirely gone!

Yesterday morning, if I recall correctly, I saw there was an update in queue for my PC. Several days before that, the update had occurred, but it removed an essential element of my experience and so, I reverted the update. The way the queued update made it seem, I was going to be unable to avoid the update.

I tried to stop automatic updates, and the moment I did, the Wi-Fi on the laptop entirely failed. When I click on the corner of the screen that usually brings up the Wi-Fi connection, it has entirely disappeared. Nothing I've done has brought back the option to reconnect to Wi-Fi at all, NOTHING. I reenabled the automatic updates feature but this did not remedy the situation. When I say it's gone, I mean, clicking on it just brings up a variety of options including bluetooth, but the ability to connect to the Wi-Fi is not even an option anymore.

When I tried to troubleshoot, it says the network adapter isn't responding and/or network services have stopped, and reinstalling or resetting them has not brought back the option to connect to Wi-Fi. For reference.

So the Intel support engineers can have more information about your system, Please download and run the Intel System Support Utility (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows- ) for Windows. Select all data categories and then have it generate a report. Next, have the tool Save the report to a text file (don't try to use the Submit capability; it doesn't work). Finally, using the Drag and drop here or browse files to attach dialog below the edit box for the body of your response post, upload and attach this file to the response post.

Hmmm...  Are you sure you have an Intel wifi adapter?  Your report shows you having"Realtek RTL8188EU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adapter"

Yes, I have the Intel Wi-Fi adapter, I just uninstalled the driver for RealTek then reinstalled via Intel, and that is the specific driver it reinstalled upon completion.

Not sure I understand.  Please wait for an Intel support engineer to respond.

Not sure I understand either. The report also says that you have a Realtek PCIe-based Wireless adapter. There are no signs of any Intel Wireless adapter being installed.
You'll need to contact HP or Realtek for support for this solution.
Hope this helps,
