I have msi z690i unify motherboard with an intel 13th gen processor and default Wi-Fi 6E card AX211NGW.
I would like to upgrade wifi to Wi-Fi 7. Please advise me which wifi card to use to support this upgrade. I’ve tried the BE NCM865 and BE200 NGW my system did not recognize either with the latest intel drivers and msi drivers. The adapter didn’t appear in device manager. Thanks

Hi Eastcoastninja
Apologies for the delayed response from the previous days. Generally speaking, Installation or use of Intel® Wireless Adapters is subject to country-specific legal regulations. Some countries require the Intel® Wireless Adapters to be certified with the antenna that is intended to be used together in the system, while some countries require the Intel® Wireless Adapter to be certified at the full system level. For example, in the US, the official rules governing the use of antennas with certified modules is covered under rule parts 15.203, 15.247 and 15.407. These can be accessed and/or downloaded at the FCC site.
Regarding the behavior you saw, I can the following reasons why the wireless card you tried to install wasn't detected by the system.
- Manufacturer limitations
- Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) may limit the computer to only specific wireless adapters, causing an installation error when booting with a different, previously installed wireless adapter.
- We recommend contacting the manufacturer, vendor, or place of purchase about availability and support for Intel Wireless Adapter upgrades. Manufacturers must meet regulatory requirements to determine if you can install the Intel Wireless Adapter in your system.
- Regulatory issues
- We do not recommend installing or upgrading the various Intel Wireless Adapters.
- Replacing an adapter associated with specific wireless software and a different adapter type may cause connection issues or software error messages. For example, if you replace a Wi-Fi/WiMAX adapter with a Wi-Fi adapter, you may receive WiMAX error messages and lose connectivity to the WiMAX network.
At this point, it would best to coordinate with your motherboard manufacturer for further assistance to check if upgrading your motherboard's WIFI card is possible.
