Hi,

My wireless driver keeps crashing on Ubuntu? How do I fix this problem? I'm using the Intel NUC as a router and it's not much good if the wifi has a problem like this.

Hi phillipmoose,

We understand that you're having issues with the Intel iwlmvm driver crashing in Ubuntu* on your NUC7i5BNB, we'll be glad to assist you.

Based on our https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi Intel Linux* wireless driver page, make sure that your distribution is running on kernel 4.6 or newer, as the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 has drivers beginning on this version of the kernel. If so, you can load the firmware hosted on the site to load it on the /lib/firmware directory and load the driver again.

Let us know if you're able to load the driver with the firmware file hosted on the site.

Regards,

The command, uname -r, responds with 4.13.0-45-generic

I have updated the firmware with the file on the server,

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1811984 Jun 25 22:10 /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-8265-22.ucode

and rebooted the system.

I still see errors using dmesg,

Hi phillipmoose,

Thanks for the log provided, in the case that the driver still doesn't load, we would recommend contacting our Linux* WiFi driver support team below as support for Linux* for our wireless adapters is limited to the firmware files themselves.

Email: mailto:mailto:linuxwifi@intel.com linuxwifi@intel.com

Additionally you may also try contacting thehttps://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=336&s=20e6ca4c89ac5ce4604e19d2ab1d34dd Ubuntu* community for further information on getting the drivers to work.

The firmware does load and it is still crashing even though the correct firmware driver is being loaded and executed. I spent a lot of money on this computer and wifi should just work. This is Intel after all.
