"Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260" does not work with AC

Hi there.

I have the "ASUS RT-AC66U" router.

Now i bought the "Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260" for my MSi GE60 notebook with Win7x64 home premium. The old WiFi card was "AzureWave AW-NB114/H"

I replaced the old WiFi card with the new and installed the latest driver(16.10.0.5), downloaded form the Intel website.

In the control center of Windows i can't choose the AC networktype. Only b/g/n. (see attached screenshots)

When i connect to the 5GHz network it works only with the "a" type. 5Mbit/sec. (see screenshot)

(sorry, the pictures are in german, but i think you will see my problem)

Do i have to activate/change somethink?

Thank you.

Could be related to the "display bug" I reported here:

/message/227442 https://communities.intel.com/message/227442

Intel has not yet added "ac" to the driver property options but I can still connect to ac at ac speeds with 16.6.0.

http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/proset-ws/sb/CS-034041.htm Try 16.6.0.

Hi Charles,

thanks for your reply. Still the same problem.

WTF? How can Intel bring out a WifI Card without usefull driver for it?

Another strange thing: when a change the "Chanel bandwith" to "20/40/80 MHz" andy "apply"

it changes automaticly to "20MHz".

I know this isnt the last firmware, but its the only firmware that works perfect with my Cablemodem.

The latest firmware change to "20MHZ" as well.

This is looking like a router issue.

AFAIK, it won't bond multiple channels together if there are other networks in the area using those channels.

Use "inSSIDer Home" to check, but note that the free home version won't display bonded ac channels properly. The paid version (v4) does.

I suggest installing the http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/forumdisplay.php?f=42 Merlin firmware 374.40 stable.

http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/showthread.php?t=16109 Then do a full factory reset - http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/showpost.php?p=47065&postcount=2 guide

This fixes a ton of issues and adds more features.

Hi Charles,

thanks for reply.

The Firmware of Merlin is realy better. Thanks.

It shows all networks near the router.

I'm the only one with 5GHz. But i have "Rapoo Keyboard/Mouse set 8900P" that runs on 5GHz.

I have still the problem with the automaticly switch to 20MHz. :-(

I don't know what that could be.

Maybe ask on the smallnetbuilder forum?

Let us know if you solve it!
