Can you run multiple licence servers / licences at the same time?

Hi, my company runs Intel Parallel Studio XE 2020 Update 2 Professional C++ compiler and one Licence server with a floating licence.

Current Setup. One domain. One licence server. One licence with host name set to machine running the licence server.

We're moving to a new infrastructure with a new domain (2 actually in the short term) and will need to run this side-by-side with our existing setup until we can fully transition over.

Questions:

- Can we install and run 3 separate licence servers on 3 domains? Our existing and the 2 new domains.

- Can we create and run 3 separate floating licences, one for each host machine? In particular will generating a new licence invalidate our existing setup?

Eventually we'll only have one domain and thus one licence server and licence. But until then...

Thanks

Sarah, thank you for the clarification.

Please note that a license file is generated using the host information. The Floating licenses are tied to the host information that is stored within it. You can you 2-3 separate license serial number on 2-3 license servers running on 2-3 systems. However, you cannot use the same license serial number on multiple system at the same time. One license will be tied to only one license server running on one system.

Hi Sarah, unfortunately you cannot run multiple license servers on the same system. One system can only run one license manager. If you try to install another license manager, the new installer will automatically uninstall the older license manager and proceed with the new installation.

However, you can visit here: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/developer/articles/troubleshooting/how-do-i-combine-multiple-license-files.html, to check how to combine licenses.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. We're not trying to install multiple licence servers on the same system, rather install 2-3 licence servers on 2-3 separate systems/domains. One per system/domain. So installing the servers should be easy. What we don't know is, can we generate 2-3 separate floating licences so we can run all the licence servers at the same time?
