Please know I have spent my entire weekend looking at this. I have tried with Visual Studio Community 2022 v 17.13.0 preview 2.1 as well. I have tried both the on-line and off-line Intel OneApi installers. It appears I cannot access older versions of Visual Studio Community 2022. This includes Visual Studio Community 2022 v 17.9.2, the "validated" version. It appears one can no longer get Visual Studio 2019, which is what I used for several years with no problems on another machine. I tried to get older versions of the toolkit, but that seems impossible as well. I am truly stumped. I have been using Intel MKL within Visual Studio for years. That is my dev env. It appears to me Intel and Microsoft are forcing users to use only the very latest versions of VS and Intel OneAPI and the validated versions of Intel One API against Visual Studio do not correspond to actual versions of VS users can access. In fact, it seems one must now pay for Visual Studio Pro/Enterprise and Intel premium services to get older versions of either products, and that is the only way to get versions of the two products that Intel has "validated". Is this correct?
So I am now dead in the water. Just impossible to believe Intel and/or Windows have created this problem.
I am desperate for help.
Thanks.

It seems like you're facing difficulties accessing older versions of Visual Studio and Intel OneAPI. Unfortunately, Intel and Microsoft have moved towards supporting only the latest versions, which can make it challenging to use older toolsets. Older versions of Visual Studio, such as 2019 or specific OneAPI versions, are no longer easily accessible, and it appears you may need a paid Visual Studio Pro/Enterprise or Intel premium services to access them. You’re correct that Intel's validation now seems tied to newer versions of both tools.

It sounds like you're really facing a tough situation. Unfortunately, it does seem like both Intel and Microsoft have moved toward limiting access to older versions of their tools, making it harder to maintain compatibility with previous setups. If paying for premium services is required for accessing older versions, that definitely feels frustrating. Hopefully, there might be some workarounds or alternative solutions, but it's understandable why you're feeling stuck right now.

It seems you're correct that accessing older versions of Visual Studio and Intel OneAPI has become difficult. Microsoft and Intel are focusing on the latest versions, and older ones might only be available through premium or enterprise subscriptions. You can try reaching out to Intel support or explore Intel’s Developer Zone for older toolkits. Unfortunately, the general public may no longer have easy access to the "validated" older versions.

Hi Mark, kindly follow the below troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.
- Open the Control panel and click on Uninstall a program below the Programs box.
- Find "Microsoft Visual Studio (all existing versions)" then click the right button and uninstall.
- The uninstaller program will be open then click on remove and select the next procedure.
- Kindly visit the below link to find the steps with InstallCleanup.exe to make sure a Visual Studio version is completely uninstalled.
- Once the uninstallation is complete, please proceed to uninstall Intel® Toolkits with the help of control panel or using their installers of the Intel® Toolkits.
- After successful uninstallation, we recommend installing Visual Studio 2022 Version 17.9.2 as your first step.
- Please note, that our engineering team has tested and documented the compatible Visual Studio versions and their build numbers for integration with the suite & toolkit versions.
- Intel® Compilers Compatibility:
- Make sure you select the 'Desktop development with C++' component while installing Visual Studio.
- Once Visual Studio 2022 17.9.2 is successfully installed, you can proceed with installing Intel® oneAPI Base Toolkit from the below link:
Please let us know if you have any other queries or concerns.

Hello,
As stated in first comments, Visual Studio Community 2022 Version 17.9.2 is not available to the community anymore. Check it for yourself. Thus, I am unable to perform your request. In essence, Intel OneAPI has been validated only on a version of Visual Studio that is not available with Visual Studio Community (if one purchases VS Pro/Enterprise it might be available with those types but not community). Is this what Intel is pushing users to do? Buy VS Pro/Enterprise to use "validated" versions of OneAPI?
Note I tried it on the most up-to-date Visual Studio Community 2022 v 17.13.0 preview 2 and it still failed.

Hello,
I have promptly replied to the private message and I did not hear back. I don't understand why there is a need to have discussion in this log and also a private message. It only causes confusion. There is nothing in the private message I feel could not (and actually should be) here in the log itself. In fact, I have seen similar instructions in other logs. Could we please keep discussion here so that I may track all discussions in one central location?
I truly don't understand why I am now having to purchase subscriptions on historically free community tools. I feel something is wrong here, but I have no choice, just like others will have no choice. I will purchase Visual Studio Pro so that I can get the back-dated validated version Intel OneAPI supports (Visual Studio 2022 Version 17.9.2). I hope this will lead to actual help now.
Per e-mail instructions I tried the cleaning steps specified. I was able to clean/uninstall all Visual Studio versions from my machine. I was able to clean/uninstall all Intel OneAPI versions except one. The un-installer is failing as shown below.
It appears I need help now getting past this un-install part. Can you please help with this part? Once this part is resolved I will purchase Visual Studio Pro, get the back-dated version (Visual Studio 2022 Version 17.9.2), then continue with remaining instructions.
Thanks,

Hello,
With respect to the un-install error noted in last comment, I did find resolution. I attempted to "repair" the install first in which the repair was successful. Then I was able to do a full un-install. That left me with no Visual Studio installs and no Intel OneAPI installs.
I then clicked the Visual Studio 2022 Version 17.9.2 link given in private e-mail and successfully installed that version of Visual Studio as shown below. It appears to be a 30 day free trial version which should be sufficient to determine root cause here.
I then proceeded to do a fresh on-line install of Intel OneAPI v2025 (latest) and received very similar errors I have received all along. See below.
So I have performed all that was requested of me yet the errors persist.
Ideas?
Thanks

Hi Mark, could you please share the below details with us for further investigation.
- Are you using online or offline installer?
- Did you check mark the desktop development with C++ while installing Visual Studio?
- Other versions of Intel® Parallel Studio XE or Intel® oneAPI already installed on the system
- Installation Log files.
- The default path for a log file for a oneAPI installation is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\oneAPI\logs

B1
Yes. In the last attempt I replied I used online-installer though I tried many prior attempts with both.
B2
Yes. That is always a choice I have to make as I almost exclusively use C++.
B3
No, as stated in last comment I removed all Visual Studio and all Intel oneAPI (I never had Intel® Parallel Studio XE)
B4
For the on-line installer, I tried it just now to confirm the error is still there. It puts it in a temp AppData location per your tools hot link to log file. I attached the file the installer points to. The directory you list does not exist on my box.

Hi Mark,
Sorry for the delay, as far as I understand the pre-requisites listed under the requirements for the Intel® oneAPI Base Toolkit do not specify a certain version of Visual Studio. Any of the following below should work as listed under the pre-requisites in the Download page.
- Visual Studio 2019
- Visual Studio 2022
- Visual Studio build tools 2019
- Visual Studio build tools 2022
Looking at the log file (installer.install.intel.oneapi.win.basekit.product,v=2025.0.1+44.2025.01.02.14.34.02.474305.log) gives a hint that perhaps could solve the issue with the installation. Could you make sure Visual Studio is not running, either by closing the application manually or forcing the process to exit via the Windows Task Manager, and then attempt to run the installer again? I am hoping this addresses the issue, let us know the outcome.

Hello,
I have tried to install Intell OneAPI with and without Visual Studio running in addition to the many other combinations (versions/online/offline, etc...) I have discussed in this log. I just tried it again as you think that may be root cause. Again it has failed as it has failed all along.
There is perhaps a blurred understanding of what a product officially supports and what Intel OneAPI has advertised as what it has "validated" against. If you read this message board you will surely find numerous logs against Intel OneAPI in which the standard answer is to use the "validated" version of Intel OneAPI against the given version of Visual Studio. I only downloaded the version of Visual Studio in latest comments because I was directed to do so, and directed to use a specific version. I followed instructions for it seems to me the right approach to take for supported suggestions. Also, as I noted in numerous comments in this log, Visual Studio no longer offers all the versions you note above to Community. One can only access them with Pro/Enterprise, which is a minimum $45/month subscription. I installed Visual Studio and Intel One API for years with no problems and both free to Community. I have the exact Visual Studio Pro 30 day trial sent to me via hot link so that should be sufficient yet it isn't.
I remain broke.
Thanks for your help,
Mark.

Hello,
Please know after many hours of investigation I believe I have found the root issue. On this particular machine I have observed issues w/ the CPU [i9-i4900KF]. It seems this particular CPU is factory set and shipped with an overclocked speed that is unstable. After several suggestions from other Forums about this particular CPU I did the following suggestion. I used the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility to set the Performance Core Ratio from the default factory settings of 57x to 54x. After doing this I successfully installed Intel One API 2025 against the 30 day trial Visual Studio 2022 v 17.9.2 (the "validated" version for the latest Intel One API). So I suspect when I was trying to install before the CPU was simply factory set to an unstable clock speed, which I observed causes problems with other software, including it seems the Intel OneAPI 2025 installer. As a simple test I have migrated several prior Visual Studio solutions to the newly installed Intel One API toolkit. It appears the install has been successfully integrated into Visual Studio as desired.
I am very sorry this problem occurred though it is out of my control. I do believe you would have found it rather impossible to track down based on an unstable CPU clock speed causing your installer to crash. I hope my experience may be of value to you in the future. Please consider this issue closed.
However, pointing users to a version of Visual Studio that isn't supported in the Community is another issue altogether. I do hope Intel OneAPI team will upgrade to an available Visual Studio community edition soon.
Mark.
