We downloaded the following:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/developer/tools/oneapi/hpc-toolkit-download.html?packages=fortran-essentials&fortran-essentials-os=windows&fortran-essentials-win=online

Below is a Snippin shot of what I downloaded and my system.  These files are also attached.

Screenshot 2025-02-12 113506.pngSystem Image.png

Is there a visual interface that I need to install?  I am having issues:

1. Getting to the Start Guide

2. Opening/ starting the Fortran program to enter my code.

3. How to compile the code, run the program, create projects, create *.f program files, etc.

Obviously I missed something.

I hope that you can help.

As a first step, I can download any software from the links that you send me. plus follow any instructions.

as a second step, is it possible that I can meet w/ someone via Zoom or MS Teams to get this straightened out?

Thank you so much.

I do not seem to have the Visual Studio.  Is this from Microsoft

Visual Studio: IDE and Code Editor for Software Developers and Teams

or does Intel have a Visual Studio for the Fortran compiler?

I downloaded MS Visual Studio.

Here is a 'Snippin' screen shot of Visual Tools when I went to

Step 1: Build a binary

  1. Launch Visual Studio.

  2. Select File > New > Project.

  3. In the New Project window, select a project type under Fortran.

(Set Fortran as the language in the Language dropdown).

Screenshot 2025-02-12 161536.png

I could not locate 'Project' and the 'Language' dropdown menu.

Can you help?

Hi Martin, Could you please share the below details with us?

  • Version of Microsoft Visual Studio installed along with it's build version.
  • Other versions of Intel® Parallel Studio XE or Intel® oneAPI already installed on the system.
  • Has the product installed successfully?
  • If your query is not related to above questions then explain your issue in brief?

To assist you further, we would require these details.

Hi Vipin,

I reached out to our IT people to help answer your questions.  There should only be one version of Intel® oneAPI installed on my laptop.

1. Can you tell me how to find out what version of MS Visual Studio that I downloaded?

I downloaded MS Visual Studio from this site:

https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/thank-you-downloading-visual-studio/?sku=Community&channel=Release&version=VS2022&source=VSLandingPage&cid=2030&passive=false#newtovs

Attached are a couple of screen shots of my Program Files (x86) folder searching for Visual Studio.  Note that Visual Studio was not found in the Program Files Folder (See Attached).  There is also a screen shot of the open Visual Studio Code program.

Tell me how I can find out what version MS Visual Studio that I am using.

2. I do not know what is Intel® Parallel Studio XE.

3. As far as I can tell, the one API is installed correctly.  There were no interruptions during the download this past Friday (02/14).

4. The main issue are that I cannot open any GUI for the Intel Fortran compiler and MS Visual Studio Code.  Does the Intel Fortran program compiler have it's own GUI?

I installed Visual Studio Code after I Installed the intel one HPC Toolkit late, this past Friday afternoon (02/14).

I installed Visual Studio Code after I Installed the intel one HPC Toolkit late, this past Friday afternoon (02/14).

Get Intel® oneAPI HPC Toolkit

Invoke the Compiler From Visual Studio

The following steps show how to invoke the compiler from within Visual Studio. Exact steps may vary depending on the version of Visual Studio in use.

Step 1: Build a binary

  1. Launch Visual Studio.

  2. Select File > New > Project.

  3. In the New Project window, select a project type under Fortran.

(Set Fortran as the language in the Language dropdown).

  4. Select a template and click OK.

  5. Select Build > Build Solution.

The results of the compilation display in the Output window.

Step 2: Set build configurations

  1. Right click on Project in Solution Explorer > Properties.
  2. Locate Fortran in the list and expand the heading.
  3. Walk through the available properties to select your configuration

The issue is that I do not see any icons to start a new project that will open a New Project window so that I can select Fortran as the language.

I hope that the above helps.  This is the best that I can do for now.

Hi Vipin,

1.  I received your message at 5:13 pm (Eastern Standard Time, United States) on 02/18/2025.

2.  I did install the Intel toolkit.  Can you explain how to use their installers of the Intel® Toolkits to uninstall the Intel® Toolkits?

3. What is

Is this information to determine if I have the correct version of MS Windows? Attached is a file showing my system and Windows specifications.  Can you review this attachment and tell me if I require any additional system or MS Windows requirements?

4. After I successfully install Microsoft Visual Studio 2022 (Version: 17.11.4), I will proceed with installation of the package with the offline installer from the below link:

Can I install Intel oneAPI HPC Toolkit by clicking the Intel oneAPI HPC Toolkit icon or stick with Intel Fortran Essentials?  The Intel oneAPI HPC Toolkit would download both the Fortan and C++ Essentials.  Will they both work with Microsoft Visual Studio 2022 (Version: 17.11.4)?

Thank you, Vipin.

Hi Martin,

We sincerely apologize for the delay in our response. After discussing with our higher-ups, we learned that your question is not related to an Intel product but rather a general inquiry about programming languages. Unfortunately, this falls outside the scope of our support. For questions like this, we recommend seeking answers on community forums such as StackOverflow or similar platforms.

If you have any further queries, please post a new question, as this thread will no longer be monitored by Intel®.

Thank you for your understanding.

Have a great day ahead!
