Intel IPP license queries

Hi,

We have a commercial software application that uses Intel IPP (version "2017.0.0" as per the "ippversion.h" header file). The IPP libraries are statically linked with our application software.

We would like to evaluate and incorporate the latest Intel IPP libraries available with oneAPI Base Toolkit (free license version).

Due to some constraints, if we are unable to upgrade our software application to the latest version of Intel IPP (available with oneAPI Base Toolkit), can we continue to develop and ship our software application with the existing version of Intel IPP (version "2017.0.0"). Which EULA/licenses will be applicable in such scenario?

There are few new joiners in our application development team. Does Intel IPP EULA/license require these new developers to register with Intel for free license of oneAPI Base Toolkit?

Thanks,
Regards,
Sudarshan

Hi Sudarshan,

The Intel® Integrated Performance Primitives 2017 - be it standalone or as a component of a product is the same.

Please note, as mentioned before, the latest security fixes are available in the last three versions and NOT updates of a version.

You may visit the below link for a better understanding of unsupported and supported product & component versions.

Hi Sudarshan,

Thanks for posting your concern in the forum. Please note, The Intel® oneAPI Base Toolkit is available for Windows*, Linux*, and macOS* free of cost. It does not require a license for installation.

·  Qualification – No qualification is required.

·  Support – All Intel® oneAPI Toolkits are available at no cost and include community forum support.

·  Licensing – Install and run the tools under the terms of use found in the End User License Agreement. No license files are needed.

End-User License Agreement Link: https://software.intel.com/content/www/us/en/develop/articles/end-user-license-agreement.html

Kindly note, we do not provide guidance on the End User License Agreement and how people use the product. You will have to consult with your own legal department regarding it. You may visit the above link to find the EULA.

Have a nice day ahead.

Hi Soumya,

Thank you for the details. As mentioned, currently we are using Intel IPP version 2017. We had purchased Intel IPP as standalone package several years back and renewed the licenses until 2017. Can you please confirm if IPP v2017 is available with oneAPI Toolkit?

To use Intel IPP libraries installed via oneAPI Toolkit, is it required that each developer in the team (writing and compiling code using IPP) register with Intel? Any specific licensing constraints/requirements for build servers that build application code with IPP libraries?

Thanks,
Regards,
Sudarshan

Hi Sudarshan,

Please note, Intel® Integrated Performance Primitives 2017 is not available with the Intel® oneAPI Base Toolkit (free version). However, if a user has paid Intel® oneAPI Base Toolkit with current active support, then on their request we can check our archives for the old and unsupported product version and provide it to you if it is available.

Kindly know this software version is not available publicly because of potential security reasons. You should not use this older software version for production as it does not contain security fixes available in the latest three versions. This software version is provided as-is without support. If you encounter issues with this software version, Intel® cannot help you resolve them.

It is not required to register all users, however, you may add the specific users who you want to provide Priority Support for the paid Intel® oneAPI Base Toolkit license if bought.

Soumya

Hi Soumya,

The following link shows Intel IPP v2017 along with later versions available with oneAPI Base Toolkit.

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/developer/articles/release-notes/intel-ipp-release-notes-and-new-features.html

Is the v2017  listed here different from the stand alone IPP package v2017 and do the v2017 updates listed have the security fixes you mentioned?

Is it possible to share more details/release notes on the security fixes in the later versions? That will help us assess the impact and plan for upgrade.

Thanks,
Regards,
Sudarshan
