Invalid Certificate when installing .vsix

I'm installing Intel Parallel Studio 2020 for Fortran.  The Fortran extensions are not integrating into Visual Studio.  When manually installing the .vsix, it indicates the certificate is invalid.  Where do I go to get a valid certificate to install these visual studio extensions?

Hi fortwart,

Thanks for getting back to us on the post. We are sorry to know that the installation issue persists.

However, to narrow down the issue, we would recommend you try installing Visual Studio 2019 Community Edition. The edition is available free of cost. You can download it using the below link.

Link: https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/

Proceeding further, please try installing and integrating it with the Intel® Parallel Studio XE.

Make sure to select the default workload "Desktop Development with C++" while installing the Visual Studio.

If the installation is successful, try installing the and Intel® Parallel Studio XE next.

That should integrate the Visual Studio with the Intel® Parallel Studio. However, in case the integration does not work, please get back to us with a new copy of the info provided in the 'About' of the Help section of the Visual Studio.

The info would allow us to assist you further. Have a nice day ahead

Regards,

Soumya

Hi fortwart,

Thanks for posting your concern on the forum. Please know Visual Studio is a Microsoft product. The Microsoft support team would be able to assist you better with the Visual Studio extension installation. However, please let us know the below details.

  • The update number of Intel® Parallel Studio XE version 2020 that you are installing.
  • Which was installed first - Visual Studio or Intel® Parallel Studio XE?
  • The version, edition and build number of the Visual Studio installed.
  • Was the component - 'Desktop development with C++' selected during the installation of the Visual Studio?
  • A copy of the 'About' (by using the 'Copy Info' option) from the Help section, of the Visual Studio.

The above information will allow us to look into the mentioned integration issue better.

Regards,

Soumya

Thank you for your response.

  • The update number of Intel® Parallel Studio XE version 2020 that you are installing.
    • I've installed both Update 2 and Update 4, each with the same results
    • I've attached the  Parallel Studio Update 2 and Update 4 installation errors as well (Update2Errors.png and Update4Error.png)
    • I also attached the warning shown when manually installing FortranCompilerPkgs.vsix as VSIXWarning.png.  Note: Since various .vsix files are installed as part of the Parallel Studio 2020 installation (in folder C:\Program Files (x86)\IntelSWTools\ide_support_2020) I would think Intel provide an updated certificate (if that's the problem)?
  • Which was installed first - Visual Studio or Intel® Parallel Studio XE?
    • Visual Studio was installed first
  • The version, edition and build number of the Visual Studio installed.
    • Visual Studio Professional 2017  15.9.38
  • Was the component - 'Desktop development with C++' selected during the installation of the Visual Studio?
    • Yes and that was the only option selected for installation
    • In addition,  after installation of Intel Parallel Studio 2020 (which hung for several hours before completing with errors), Visual Studio Installer is now showing a warning, see attached file VSWarning.png.   I have to 'repair' Visual Studio for this warning to go away. After repairing, Fortran still isn't integrated into it
  • A copy of the 'About' (by using the 'Copy Info' option) from the Help section, of the Visual Studio
    • Attached as VSAbout.txt

Hi fortwart,

Thanks for providing the details. Based on the information, it seems that the issue is related to the Visual Studio installation and not its integration with the Intel® Parallel Studio XE.

You may try a clean installation of the Visual Studio Community Edition. Please visit the below links to find out the other compatible versions to download.

Compatible versions' Link: https://software.intel.com/content/www/us/en/develop/articles/intel-compilers-compatibility-with-microsoft-visual-studio-and-xcode.html

Visual Studio Link: https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/vs/

If the same Visual Studio issue persists, please contact Microsft regarding it.

However, do let us know if you face any issues regarding the integration of Visual Studio with Intel® Parallel Studio XE, after proper installation of Visual Studio.

Have a nice day ahead.

Soumya

Re-installing Visual Studio 2017 didn't help.  We are giving up trying into use Intel Parallel Studio 2020 as we've spent numerous hours trying to get this to integrate into Visual Studio 2017.  Going back to Visual Studio 2008 Pro and Intel Visual Fortran Compiler 11.1.1048 Update 2 as that worked for us in the past.  Thanks you for help
