I have followed your steps, with one difference:  I use both the "Desktop development with C++" and the "Embedded development on Linux with C++" components of Visual Studio.

vTune still instantly crashes, and when I try to start it in Visual Studio 2022 using the integrated menu, the vTune window hangs at "loading".   The first time I tried Visual Studio crashed and restarted, but not anymore.
