Unsuccessful installation of Intel Fortran Compiler using oneAPI

Hello.

I am trying to install the Intel Fortran Compiler for Visual Studio 2022, and in the installation process, it appears to get stuck at about 93%, then jumps to 96%, and then I get an error message that states to check the log file as there were errors during installation.

The log file has this warning:

03/22/2025 10:59:36:283 : 14472 : WARNING : Product configuration is not finished successfully. Integration in IDE(s) might be in incomplete state or custom post-install/remove actions might fail.
Details: Attempt 1 of 2 failed. Execution of C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer\resources\app\ServiceHub\Services\Microsoft.VisualStudio.Setup.Service\VSIXInstaller.exe failed with exit code 1021, output:
Cannot create a stable subkey under a volatile parent key.

Attempt 2 of 2 failed. Execution of C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer\resources\app\ServiceHub\Services\Microsoft.VisualStudio.Setup.Service\VSIXInstaller.exe failed with exit code 1021, output:
Cannot create a stable subkey under a volatile parent key.

Not sure what the actual problem is as I have installed this compiler on two other laptops without issue. This new laptop is running Windows 11 like the other two.

As such, when I try to open a Fortran project in Visual Studio 2022, it is not recognized and the solution is listed as (incompatible).

I have this same error when installing VS 2022. Can you post what the fix is so I can see what to do?

Unfortunately, I haven't found a fix for it yet. It seems to be an HP specific problem.

Intel has been recommending to install Visual Studio 2022 Version 17.11.4 and then installing the Intel Fortran Compiler, but no matter what I try, the Fortran Compiler does not recognize that version of Visual Studio as being installed.

If you are using an HP, and it is relatively new, this is likely the culprit. Get a Dell instead.

Unfortunately, my company is a HP laptop shop and that is all we can order. The VS 2022 looks way too complicated to me. I had VS 2017 installed on my old PC with a XE Fortran compiler that was easier for me to work with. I'm trying to install the Fortran compiler to work with the VS 2017 that I got installed, but I'm having issues installing it.  It is likely a rights issue.  I learned Fortran IV in 1967 and use very simple code.

Thanks for the reply.
