Urgent Need for Intel oneAPI C++ Compiler Integration with Visual Studio 2022 (v17.14.4+)

I am writing to strongly urge an update to the Intel oneAPI C++ Compiler that integrates with a more current version of Visual Studio 2022. Specifically, I am requesting support for Visual Studio 2022 v17.14.4 or later, rather than the currently supported v17.12.4.

The v17.12.4 release of Visual Studio 2022, from November 2024, presents significant challenges for C++ development. This older version contains several C++-related issues that have been corrected by Microsoft in subsequent updates. Furthermore, newer Visual Studio versions introduce numerous important improvements that would greatly benefit almost all oneAPI C++ users.

I understand that qualifying oneAPI for integration with newer Visual Studio versions can be a complex and time-consuming process. However, given Intel's size, influence, and renowned software development capabilities, it's surprising that this process appears to be taking so long. It has been seven months since the release of Visual Studio 17.12.4, and no newer oneAPI version offers compatibility with the many subsequent Visual Studio releases.

I am personally experiencing several problems directly related to the limitations of Visual Studio v17.12.4. I have also tried diligently, but unsuccessfully, to install a newer Visual Studio version side-by-side to accommodate other development projects that do not directly utilize oneAPI.

This issue is not new to me; I have been reporting this concern for several years. I kindly ask that Intel dedicate increased effort and resources to address this critical integration gap. Timely updates are essential for developers to leverage the latest advancements in both Intel oneAPI and Microsoft Visual Studio.

Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.

Hi Eduardo,

Microsoft VS 2022 17.14.3 would be integrated with oneAPI 2025.2, and VS 2022 17.14.4 would be integrated in the subsequent releases.

Deeksha, thank you for your response.

To leverage the latest error corrections and improvements in Visual Studio, faster updates to oneAPI for compatibility with newer Visual Studio versions are essential. Currently, Microsoft Visual Studio is at version 17.14.5, with the next release in preparation.

We understand the challenges of keeping pace with such rapid innovation. However, given that Visual Studio 17.12.4 was released seven months ago, we are eager to know if an updated version of oneAPI is anticipated soon.

We appreciate Intel's commitment to its software products.
