Windows Installation hangs trying to use NTFS volume mount point

I have a clean install of Windows 11 Pro I was setting up, and installed Visual Studio and then was going to install the last Oneapi 2023 Intel C++ and Fortran compiler packages.

I was trying to install over a path that included a NTFS volume mount point. The installer just hung, consuming a good bit of CPU and it had to be killed.  I tried some of the previous versions of these I had, oneapi 2022 versions and they all displayed the same behavior.

Give it a normal path, and it installs without a hitch. There are differences between volume mount points, directory junctions, and softlinks,  the details of which I'm not up on, but this was a volume mount point type, an NTFS partition mounted on a directory on a drive mounted to a drive letter.

Anyway, there is something the installer doesn't like about this.  Thanks.

Hi Richard, Intel® has decided that Intel® oneAPI Toolkits Versions: 2023.1.0 and earlier are not supported anymore. We urge users to upgrade to the latest version of Intel® developer tools. The unsupported versions do not include the latest functional and security updates. These versions are targeted to be removed after a period. Users with active priority support can only access older product versions.

For more information refer to the link: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/developer/articles/release-notes/oneapi-supported-product-versions.htm, and scroll down to the Unsupported Product Version.

Intel® oneAPI users with active Intel Priority Support can access older versions via a secure portal you gain access to as part of your support subscription.
