During Black History Month, I’ve been reflecting on Intel’s commitment to a culture of inclusion for all and our shared responsibility to address barriers and inequalities impacting our employees and communities. Over the last two years, Intel has leaned into our mission to do just that and has deepened our commitments to social and racial equity. Part of that commitment includes our support of XPrize Foundation and the Racial Equity Alliance (REA).

REA at the XPRIZE Foundation is a cross-representation of thought leaders, scholars, and prominent voices on the front lines of social and racial equity. The REA is aimed at creating innovative solutions to dismantle systemic racial inequities with an intentional focus on the Black community. XPRIZE’s superpower is using competitions to leverage inclusive innovation for impact. They are a recognized leader and convener of diverse thinkers, enablers and change makers.

I’m thrilled to share that XPRIZE and the REA announced the first Ideas Competition, presented by Intel, today. The Ideas Competition focuses on education equity and crowdsources ideas from the public, especially those within the education community – educators, students, parents, community-based and after-school organizations – for future XPRIZE competitions. These competitions will bring together equitable solutions to the key challenges identified by the community members themselves.

This collaboration underscores Intel’s commitment to both education and equity. The XPRIZE Ideas Competition will bring the community together to advance our collective efforts of full inclusion for all.  As a Black woman, mother, engineer, and social scientist, programs like these make me proud to be an Intel employee.
