Altera Now Offers the Longest Life Cycle Commitments in the Industry

Here at Altera, supply resilience is a strategic imperative. We invest in programs and inventory strategies to minimize supply disruptions and help customers keep their production lines running at capacity. This includes actions to deliver greater supply predictability, agility, longevity, and ultimately to deliver a robust supply chain that our customers can trust (more information).

Part of our supply chain strategy is delivering best-in-class product longevity. Our customers often have long product life cycles, and they need FPGA and CPLD products supported for at least 15 years after initial release. To meet this need, we are committing our preferred power and cost-optimized products to unprecedented supply longevity extending to at least 2040 before End of Life (EOL). These products include our popular MAX II, MAX V, MAX 10, Cyclone III, Cyclone IV, Cyclone V, and Cyclone 10 LP product families. They offer extremely high value with key features such as low-power, instant-on, non-volatile architecture, fast time-to-market, and a cost-sensitive design flow.

Extended product longevity mitigates the risk of obsolescence and minimizes the cost of redesigning. This gives our customers peace of mind when choosing our products, knowing that they can continue to rely on our widely used FPGAs and CPLDs with confidence over the long haul.

* Unforeseen supply disruptions such as vendor discontinuance, change in government regulations, or production tools obsolescence may impact Altera’s ability to offer the products

A recent discontinuation notice from one FPGA supplier affected hundreds of 180nm CPLDs and 90nm FPGAs (more information). To help customers find Altera replacements for these devices, we suggest some alternatives from our extended life product families in the references below. All these products are either supported by the free Quartus Prime Lite Edition software or in Quartus Prime Standard Edition with no additional license fees, without the hassle of node-locked or floating licenses.

Because finding suitable replacements for programmable devices can be a daunting task, we also provide interactive tables to help you drill down to the exact devices with the resources and features you need to fully meet your system design requirements.
