Last week, we hosted a Fireside Chat to look back at our recent Advent of GenAI Hackathon and reflect on the biggest successes and highlights. The brainchild of Intel® Liftoff’s Rahul Unnikrishnan Nair and Prediction Guard’s Daniel Whitenack, this event turned out to be the biggest generative AI hackathon our team has ever organized, with over 2000 registrants from a wide range of backgrounds.
Students, grad students, school-level prompt engineers and AI experts came together to share skills and tackle challenges for everyone from novices to experts building LLM APIs. These challenges ranged from creating a narrative-based set of images to building a python code explainer.
The results were equally varied. Showcasing a range of exciting submissions from comic book generators to multi-modal chatbots. These submissions combined ingenuity with a spirit of creative collaboration, fostering strong peer support and knowledge sharing. Participants made extensive use of LLM APIs built by Prediction Guard, an Intel Liftoff member.
The Intel® Developer Cloud laid the foundation for the entire hackathon, offering participants a powerful and versatile platform for their AI innovations. As a production-ready cloud environment tailored for AI and machine learning workloads, IDC gave participants access to high-performance computing resources, including Intel® Data Center GPUs and Xeon processors.
