10 gig driver for X553 running FreeBSD 14.1

I am running into performance issues on ix NICs that are established using 10 gig speed but only getting throughput of around 2.4 Gbps but I should see close to 9.5 Gbps, accounting for packet over head when running jperf, I have 2 FreeBSD boxes connected to each other and then a server connected to one box and another server connected to the other box, all 10 gig links with no anti virus, no inspection whatsoever but still cannot get close to 10 gig throughput, looking through KBs it looks like a driver update for the NICs should resolve this issue, anyone know which drivers are the correct ones? I did open a case with intel and here is what they said:

First of all, the link shared by you for the driver of the X553 Ethernet embedded card is applicable only for FreeBSD*. If you check the link, Under valid products , you will not find X553 so this may not be applicable for the card:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/14303/intel-network-adapters-driver-for-pcie-10-gigabit-network-connections-under-freebsd.html

We could find another driver for Linux Based OS, ixgbe driver that applies to X553 (listed as valid products for the driver):

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/14302/intel-network-adapter-driver-for-pcie-intel-10-gigabit-ethernet-network-connections-under-linux.html

We would like to inform you that this X553 is an embedded product which is part of the Intel Intel Atom® Processor C3000 product family. For best support on this, we would recommend you to post your query on our Intel Embedded community as they are the best point of contact for this query of yours. Please find below link for Intel Embedded products community:

however, I am running this on FreeBSD 14.1

Hello, @iislas:

Thank you for contacting Intel Embedded Community.

You want to use the iperf3 to test throughput between the two FreeBSD systems in the following way:

Please let us know your feedback related to this suggestion.

By the way,  could you please let us know the version of the driver that you are using in the units associated with the reported situation?

We are waiting for your reply.

Best regards,

@CarlosAM_INTEL.

I ran those throughput tests using ipef3 and got the same result, the driver for the ix interfaces we have are what came with the system which is: 4.0.1-k
