Hello KOCon,

Thank you for the patience on this matter.

Based on your requirement, we don't have network card that supports MACsec (IEEE 802.1AE).

If you have additional questions and clarifications, please let us know.

I am a little disappointed that Intel is telling me it supports Macsec and you saying they do not. Please advise?

Hello KOCon,

Good day!

We'd like to inform you that the hardware of X540 Ethernet controller is capable of MACSec. However, there's no driver support.

Even though your datasheets say that you support MacSec. It seems that there is little support from Intel. Surely there is someone who can help

Hello Kieran,

Good day!

We'd like to inform you that Intel stopped providing MacSec feature in software Release 16.X (which was 2011-2012). In case you'll consider other platform aside from Windows, Linux has software implementation of MACSec. For more information, kindly visit the link below.

It seems that in one case you do not support MACsec and the on your datasheets https://www.intel.com.au/content/www/au/en/ethernet-products/converged-network-adapters/ethernet-x520-server-adapters-brief.html. It mentions it.

Can you please explain why Intel has stopped supporting MACsec.

Hello KOCon,

Just like what we have told you before in this thread, MacSec Intel stopped providing MacSec feature in software Release 16.X (which was 2011-2012). However, since you are asking for an explanation, let me check if I can find a reason why MacSec support was stopped. Give us 2 to 3 working days to provide an update on this one.

Looking forward to your reply.

Hello KOCon,

Upon further checking, the only reason why MacSec was discontinued is it was a business decision.

If you have questions, please let us know.
