Hi.
I have a NIC environment like this on HPE's DL360 Gen9 server:
1)
"Ethernet controller" "Intel Corporation" "82599ES 10-Gigabit SFI/SFP+ Network Connection" -r01 "Hewlett-Packard Company" "Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 560SFP+ Adapter"
$ ethtool -i ens3f1
driver: ixgbe
version: 5.1.0-k-rh7.7
firmware-version: 0x80000835, 1.2688.0
-------------------------------------------
2)
"Ethernet controller" "Intel Corporation" "Ethernet Controller X710 for 10GbE SFP+" -r01 "Hewlett Packard Enterprise" "Ethernet 10GbE 4P 563SFP+ Adapter"
$ ethtool -i ens1f0
driver: i40e
version: 2.8.20-k
firmware-version: 8.20 0x80009b97 1.2879.0
-------------------------------------------
However, I am confused because several types of firmware versions are displayed.
The 82599ES has two firmware versions,
The X710 has three firmware versions.
I tried updating the version,
1) It was possible to update the firmware rpm of hpe,
2) was updated to version 8.20 with nvmupdate64e tool from intel,
Also, I was able to update version 1.2879.0 of 0x80009b97 with rpm of hpe.
So I got more confused.
What does that version mean?
