Hello,
Which simulators are supported for a PCIe Agilex R-Tile simulation?
VCS*, VCS* MX, Siemens EDA QuestaSim*, and Xcelium* are the only simulators supported in the latest release of Intel® Quartus® Prime.
- AGIx027R29AxxxxR2
- AGIx027R29AxxxxR3
- AGIx027R29BxxxxR3
- AGIx023R18AxxxxR0
- AGIx041R29DxxxxR0
- AGIx041R29DxxxxR1
- AGMx039R47AxxR0
Can Intel Mentor Modelsim FPGA Starter be used to simulate Agilex R-Tile Gen5 1x16 ?
Kind regards
Jack Dalton

Hi @JackDalton,
Thanks for reaching out to us.
May I know which Quartus® Prime edition and version are you using?
For your information, by referring to the forum below:
"Starting from Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition 21.3 or later and Intel® Quartus® Prime Standard/Lite Edition 21.1 or later, ModelSim*-Intel® FPGA Edition and ModelSim*-Intel® FPGA Starter Edition are no longer supported."
Thanks.

Hi VenTingT,
We ordered an Eval board with an Agilex 7 I-Series FPGA.
The PCIe core should also be used in the R-Tile.
If the Modelsim Simualtor is no longer supported as of Quartus 21.3, which simulator do you recommend for the PCIe IP Core R-tile simulation ?
kind regards
Jack Dalton

Hi @JackDalton,
Kindly refer to the Agilex 7 R-Tile Avalon® Streaming Intel® FPGA IP for PCI Express* User Guide to see the supported simulation tools for R-Tile simulation.
1. Choose the document version according to the Quartus version you have used.
2. Refer to Section 1.2 Features to look for the simulators supported.
3. Select any simulation tool listed among the supported simulators.
Additionally, to determine the version of the supported simulation tools, please refer to Table 2. Release Notes for OS Support of Quartus Prime Design Suite.
1. Choose the Quartus version in Table 2.
2. Open its Release Notes.
3. Search for "EDA Interface Information" to refer to the version supported for the simulation tools.
It is important to take note that not all the IP supports simulation in all the supported simulators listed in the Quartus Release Notes. Therefore, you would need to follow the simulator support specified in the IP's User Guide.
