oneAPI on Stratix 10 GX Dev Kit

Hi, In my last thread (https://community.intel.com/t5/FPGA-SoC-And-CPLD-Boards-And/Stratix-10-GX-Dev-Kit-OpenCL-aocl-diagnose-error/m-p/1598920) I got the recommendation to use oneAPI instead of OpenCL for the Stratix 10 GX Dev Kit (device 1SG280HU2F50E2VG). Just to clarify, can I use the OpenCL Board Support Package (latest version 20.2) compiled with Quartus + OpenCL SDK version 20.2 with the current version of oneAPI? Or should I recompile the OpenCL BSP with aoc from the latest oneAPI version? Also, can we only run OpenCL programs with this old BSP or SYCL programs as well? Thank you and best regards! Felix

Hi @gustifix,

Thank you for posting in Intel community forum, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the delay in addressing your Forum queries.

Please find the response for your question as below:

1) Can I use the OpenCL Board Support Package (latest version 20.2) compiled with Quartus

+ OpenCL SDK version 20.2 with the current version of oneAPI?

Answer: That will not work as the BSP itself are from different compiler. (There are ways for that such as a customize migration of the BSP are required, however that are not recommended as it will take loads of time and prone to error)

2) Should I recompile the OpenCL BSP with aoc from the latest oneAPI version?

Answer: You could generate a BSP using our board vendor tools (OFS) and a list of vendor boards that have vendor-supported BSPs. (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/developer/tools/oneapi/fpga.html#choose-platform)

3) Can we only run OpenCL programs with this old BSP or SYCL programs

as well?

Answer: Not getting the question, can you please elaborate more on the 'only run OpenCL program with old BSP'.

Thank you for your understanding.
