How do I update my Graphics Driver?

My graphics driver needs updating, as after my update to Windows 10 when I try playing a game it crashes and says that the graphics driver is the issue. I downloaded the Intel Driver Update Utility (2.4) and after the scan it said that 'Intel Chipset Device Software (INF Update Utility-EXE Only)' needs updating to 10.1.1.14. The download goes fine, but when I install it the progress bar goes by quickly and suddenly 'Unknown error' and status says failed. Log shown below. I read a few forums in which people had around the same issue and were never really fixed, I've tried a few suggestions, however, like manually installing the chipset from the website though I couldn't find one with exactly the same name. I did try to install 'Intel Chipset Device Software (INF Update Utility)' which took me through practically the exact same thing as the one from the automatic updater; everything went smoothly until it said it failed because of an unknown error.

I'd really appreciate some help with this as it has been annoying me for a while and I still haven't found a solution.

Thanks,

-Alice

Updating the chipset inf will not help you.

It is likely that your graphics are not supported on Windows 10, and that you are using the Microsoft generic driver.

Provide your processor model and graphics,

In the meantime, review http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005526.html Supported Operating Systems for Intel® Graphics Products to see if your graphics are supported.

I do not see that the T3500 has graphics support: http://ark.intel.com/products/42104/Intel-Celeron-Processor-T3500-1M-Cache-2_10-GHz-800-MHz-FSB?q=T3500 Intel® Celeron® Processor T3500 (1M Cache, 2.10 GHz, 800 MHz FSB) Specifications

What is the manufacturer/model of your PC/laptop?

Ok, there are going to be some xxxx info on the HP G56 Notebook PC. Look on the bottom for something like G56-xxxxx.

Or, run DXDIAG and provide the "device" info on the display tab.

There are multiple models of this notebook, and multiple graphics chipsets.

Yes. Unfortunately, the Intel Mobile 4 Series chipset is not supported on Windows 10, as you can see in the link I provided under "Legacy graphics products"::

I see, thanks a lot for the help. Would you recommend downgrading, or is it possible to go around this problem by doing something like installing something that is compatible?

Hi AliceinMalice123,

I suggest you to uninstall and delete the current graphics driver from device manager. Restart the system and run Windows® 10 update.
