Monoprice 4k Monitor Stuck at 1280x720

Hi all. I recently purchased this 4k monitor https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=27771 https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=27771. I know the 4k works because I used it with my Xbox One S. However, when using the included HDMI 2.0 cable to plug into my computer (integrated graphics (Intel HD-630) through the i7-7700, Gigabyte H270-HD3P, advertised native 4k@60hz), it gets stuck at 1280x720 resolution in the Intel Graphics Control Panel and Windows 10 display settings. I also tried to plug this monitor into a new laptop and got the same result - so it seems to be isolated to the Intel software maybe? Even trying a custom resolution does not work. All my 1920x1080 monitors get recognized correctly by both desktop and laptop, I just can't make the resolution change for this Monoprice monitor. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the graphics driver from the latest version and tried the one specifically from the Gigabyte website. With the Intel graphics driver completely uninstalled, the Microsoft basic graphics driver allows the monitor to be at 1920x1080, but no more. Any guidance would be appreciated. Also attached are my Intel SSU results.

Hi kevsox33: Thank you very much for contacting the Intel® Graphics communities. We will do our best to try to fix this problem.

As you mentioned, for this type of scenario we always recommend to install the drivers provided by the manufacturer of the board. Since the problem persists after that, we can try the graphics driver available in our web site, even though it is also version 4849, for testing purposes we can always try to install it:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27266/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-60-?product=98909 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27266/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-60-?product=98909

Some monitors have the option to update their own driver or the firmware, I looked at the link you gave us and I did not see that, so what we recommend is to get in contact directly with Monoprice to confirm that:

https://www.monoprice.com/help?pn=contact https://www.monoprice.com/help?pn=contact

Please make sure the HDMI cable is a high quality HDMI 2.0 cable, do you have the option to test a different cable?

Any further questions, please let me know.

Regards,

Alberto R

I am having the same problem with this monitor on Windows, but when I tried connecting with it with a computer using Linux it allowed me to set the resolution to 3840 x 2160 without a problem. When I tried to connect to a different 4K monitor, it allowed me to change the resolution of the display but when it tried to set the resolution to 3840 x 2160 it didn't display the computer.

Did you ever get this resolved? I just purchased it a week ago and have the same issue.

https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=27772

I bought the Monoprice 27772 and have connected it to several laptops (one of which is the Dell XPS 15 9560 with HDMI 1.4 and Intel HD Graphics 630). I have been unable to get any resolution except 1280x720. When connected to my LGTV 50", my XPS 15 has no issue doing 1920x1080, but as soon as I connect my XPS 15 to the Monoprice 27772, the max resolution is still 1280x720. I've done everything from extend screen, update latest video drivers, ensured HDMI cables are high speed with ethernet, tried both Monoprice 27772 HDMI ports, and worked with Monoprice customer support. My second laptop has Intel HD Graphics 530 and the resolution is stuck at the same 1280x720 and is greyed out. I am unable to change the resolution for both laptops running Windows 10 with all the latest updates. I have tried with 3 different HDMI cables (one of which was included with the monitor and states it is high speed with ethernet).

I have been unable to isolate the issue except to think that the monitor itself is unable to go beyond 1280x720.

Note that I do NOT want to use the DP port. I want to connect via HDMI.

It is not an HDMI cable issue.

I have the latest drivers for Intel 530 and 630 for both respective laptops.

Windows 10 is fully updated on both laptops.

Both laptops are HDMI 1.4.

I have tried all the screen modes (duplicate, extended, etc).

I have rebooted with HDMI initially unplugged. Once Windows 10 is up and running, I plug in HDMI and still have the same issue.

I sent back the monitor and Monoprice was great, sending a replacement within 7 business days. Unfortunately the new replacement also has the same issue. After googling like crazy and trying everything, I am still unable to get any resolution above 1280x720 on any of my laptops with 1.4 HDMI (that are all able to do resolutions beyond 1280x720 on other monitors and TVs).

Help!

Hi there, sorry for never updating this. What I found to eventually solve this problem was to use the remote or the buttons on the monitor to go to menu and the bottom icon on the left for settings, and turn FreeSync on. I don't remember if I then had to unplug and replug the monitor in or something but that ended up making 4k work for me. Good luck!

Hmm.. strangely Freesync is greyed out for me on both laptops, even though both are running Intel HD chips (530 and 630). I tried rebooting/unplugging/replugging, but freesync always seems to be greyed out for me regardless of what I do =\

Is Freesync always active (nongreyed out) for you regardless of what pc/xbox/system you connect to it?
