High power draw for Intel ARC with latest drivers while in HDR

Today I got my Arc A750, works fine, got mad but found that in leaving HDR enabled causes the ARC card to continue to consume 37W average wattage.

Disabling it my card popped at 7-8W.

Please check it and fix, while I reccommend Your technicians to suggest HDR disabling for the customers still encountering high idle consumption.

Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities. It would be our pleasure to assist you in managing your power usage when utilizing HDR. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

For optimal power consumption, you should configure the BIOS as follows:

• Allow OS-controlled ASPM by setting Native ASPM to Enabled.
• Enable PCI Express root port ASPM and select L1 Substates.

You should consult the motherboard manual or refer to your motherboard's manufacturer if you are not sure where to locate these settings.

Also, configure Windows* Power settings as follows:

• Go to Start > System > Power & Sleep.
• Click on Additional power settings.
• Select your preferred plan and click on Change plan settings.
• Click on Change advanced power settings.
• Look for PCI Express.
• Click the '+' sign next to PCI Express to expand the options.
• Click the '+' sign next to Link State Power Management to expand the options.
• Select Maximum power savings as the Setting using the drop-down menu.
• Click Apply and then OK.

Well, I made some attempts and here's the results:

- 1080p 60hz: 7-8w

- 1080p 120hz: 37w

- 1080p 60hz HDR enabled 36-37w

- 1080p 120hz HDR enabled 36-37w

- 4K 60hz: 13-15w

- 4K HDR Enabled 37w

Thanks for taking the time to further test this matter.

We'd like to inform you that high power consumption isn't necessarily problematic since there's no set target for power usage. Still, upcoming driver and firmware updates could potentially optimize hardware power draw.
