Intel ARC A750 Crashing on Launch after changing graphics settings

I've had the card for awhile now but after running into a number of issues with it lately I've decided to start reporting them. I won't put past things I've experienced and have no proof of.

Recently I've installed "The First Descendant" through Steam and now "Off the Grid" through the Epic store. Both games launched to the title screen and TFD let me play a little bit. However, after changing the graphics settings I am now no longer able to play.

I tried many things with TFD that showed a weird PHYSX Untrusted system file error after crashing to desktop. Eventually it would just crash with no error. After everything I tried to get TFD working, installing the latest ARC Driver fixed the issue!

Now I just installed Off the Grid. It launched to the title menu. I messed with the graphics settings a bit but had to close the game. I come back to open the game and it crashes after the intro video. I've attached the SSU file, UE Crash Files, and the gamesettings.ini inside the crash folder.

Hello Hekubas,

Thank you for posting in our communities.

Please allow me time to further investigate our issue internally; I might replicate the issue that we have in our lab.

I'll get back to you as soon as I have an update on our case.

Thank you so much for your patience.

Hi Mod,

The Off The Grid game crashes if the Global Illumination Quality parameter is set to low

Hi hekubas,

I had the same problems as you with Off The Grid. To avoid crashing you must not set Global Illumination Quality to low.
On my PC to have fps above 40 I have to set everything to low except for that parameter, and FSR to performance.

To be able to restart it you can edit the configuration file, setting sg.GlobalIlluminationQuality to 2 or higher

GG

EDIT:

Go to
%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\OTG\

Open this
GzGameUserSettings.json

Change

"globalIlluminationQuality"

Hello Hekubas,

Thank you for patiently waiting on my update.

To further investigate the issue, please provide the following information below:

1. Which graphics settings are you changing that causes the issue?

2. Is the problem occurring only with "Off the Grid" now? Based on the information, the issue with "The First Descendant" seems to be resolved.

3. Have you used DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) when installing the latest graphics driver? If not, please perform a DDU and then install the latest driver.

4. Is it possible that you can share your game settings with me so I can better replicate the issue?

5. Are there any error messages when "Off the Grid" crashes?

6. Is it feasible that you can share with me the event viewer logs? This will help me determine the root cause of the crash and the timestamp when it occurs.

By the way, you may also try the recommendation provided by @BannHead, as it appears that he has the same problem as ours and has already discovered a workaround or solution.

I will be waiting for your response!

Thank you and have a great day.
