I purchased a NUC12WSHi7 from Amazon on 1/28/23. I set it up and all was running well until about 2 weeks ago. I had the NUC connected to an Ethernet switch with another computer and printer also attached. The NUC was running Windows 11 Pro.
About a week after I bought the NUC, I removed the computer and printer from the switch. I lost my Ethernet connection on the NUC. I then moved the NUC Ethernet cable to the wall plate that had been feeding the Ethernet Switch. I still had no Ethernet. The error message has always been a cable is disconnected. I then tried a new cable directly from my router, bypassing the in-the-wall cabling. I still got the same error message, cable disconnected.
I then started a return under warranty to Intel, but after finding I would not have my computer for 6 to 10 days, I returned it to Amazon and bought an exact replacement with all new components. The new unit has the same problem, the LAN cable plugged into the jack doesn't work and I get the same error message. The driver is up to date, the BIOS is up to date, as were they on the old NUC. Right now I'm on the Ethernet thru an adapter on one of the Thunderbolt 4 connectors and all works fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello Frank772, You are very welcome, thank you very much for letting us know those updates.
The fact that you were able to connect your Mac Book to the NUC directly was actually a pretty good troubleshooting step to try. Based on the fact that they worked with no problems, allow us to confirm, as you mentioned, that everything indicates this is a compatibility issue between the Intel® NUC and the AT&T router.
As an alternative for this scenario, you can also get in contact directly with AT&T Support to report this scenario, to check with them if they have reports of similar issues, if there might be some settings to change on the router in order to make it work properly, if in fact, they have listed the router as not compatible with the Intel® NUC and for additional suggestions on this topic:
Any other inquiries, do not hesitate to contact us again.

1. I understand that you checked with other LAN cable as well?
2. Your computer came with Windows 11 installed or it was your installation? If it was your installation, did you installed all drivers (including the Chipset Software)?
3. In order to get better information about your system, please download the Intel System Support Utility (SSU). Run the SSU scan (check "Everything") and save the results. The .txt file with the results please attach to your post.

I have a fist full of cables, none work connected to the RJ 45 connector. I'm using the cable I originally tried at the beginning and it works fine with a Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter. I have been doing a bunch of reading on line and find that my problem may be related to the problems Intel is having with its Ethernet Controller I225-V.
I've attached the SSU File you asked about.
Thanks, Frank

Hello Frank,
FYI, I have downloaded and installed manually the Intel LAN Driver on NUC12wshi5. I opened the .zip file and then right mouse click on the .inf file. Finally, left click on "Install". No problem observed as for now.
The only problem I know with the I225 LAN controller is waking computer from Modern Standby as described here. So, I've downloaded and applied this patch as well.
I hope that Intel Agent will be able to give some better advise after reviewing the SSU report.

Thanks Leon,
I tried the LAN Driver install as you describe it. No luck. Still no action on the RJ45.
I didn't try the other fix you mentioned, yet.
Thanks for the suggestion

Leon, You had asked about the Windows 11 installation. Both units came from Amazon and were sold with Windows 11 Pro installed. Both units booted up and immediately started updates to Windows. Then I ran Intel Driver and Support Assistant Installer, which updated a number of Intel drivers, the BIOS and including the LAN Driver to Version 1.1.3.34.
Hope this helps.

Leon,
I am still trying to fix the Ethernet connection on my NUC 12. I went back to your suggested update that was issued concerning "Wake on LAN" problem. Everything I found through the link you provided applied to NUC 11s. Have I missed something on the Intel pages?
I have now been able to reproduce how my first NUC 12 was working on the Ethernet switch. I set the switch up with a second device on the switch. With that device running, the NUC 12 connector started working, but at only 90Gbps. A long way from the 600Gbps I get using one of the Thunderbolt 4 connectors with an Adapter from Uni that's using an Aix made chip.
My thought now is to purchase a Thunderbolt 4 hub, moving my monitors to the Hub and then using the NUC's second Thunderbolt 4 connector with the Ethernet adapter. My only problem is these Hubs run $130 to $300 and reviews for them are all over the place.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Frank,
1. This a link to the download page for your NUC. You may find here all the latest drivers released for NUC12WSHi7. Since, your NUC came with Windows preinstalled and then you have used the IDSA to update all drivers, I don't think that further update is necessary.
2. Check the settings of the Internet Adapter:
2.1 Open Windows Settings > Network & Internet
2.2 Click on Advanced network settings
2.3 Click on More network adapter settings
2.4 Right click on network adapter icon and run Diagnose
2.5 Right click on network adapter icon and then click on Properties.
2.6 Click on Configure
2.7 In the Advanced tab, verify that Speed & duplex is set to Auto negotiation and that Wait for link is set to Auto detect.
Hope this helps

Hello Leon,
Thanks for the response. I did the Settings checks you suggested. Every thing was set properly. But, I was looking through the list of driver updates and saw there is one that is supposed to be installed right after the first Windows installation called "Intel Chipset Device Software for Windows". It is not included in IDSA to update all drivers. The write up says to do once after the Windows installation, but doesn't need to be done again. I know I didn't do it but I'm not sure the Amazon seller did it when they installed Windows 11. Can it be run now?
I'm looking at Thunderbolt 4 Hubs since I found that "if" I can get my two monitors on just one Thunderbolt connector on the Hub, I can run my Ethernet connection thru the other one at 600Mbps, which eliminates my need for the built-in Ethernet connector.
Thanks for your help,
Frank

Hello Frank,
1. Download the Intel® Chipset Device Software and unzip it on your drive.
2. Open the Administrative Command Prompt and enter the directory where is the unzipped driver.
3. Execute the command SetupChipset -overall
This will install correctly the Chipset Software

Hello Leon,
I installed the Chipset Software. It went in no problem, but did nothing for the Ethernet connection. Still seeing Cable missing error message. Thanks for you help.

Hello Leon,
Wandering around on Intel, I found reference to a new "Ethernet Adapter Complete Driver Pack". I have downloaded this package, about 800 MB, and looked at what is included. The documentation is almost overwhelming. It looks like it's intended for persons who are installing an Intel Ethernet Adapter. It includes the one in my NUC, Intel I225-v, I think. It appears to update the firmware in the adapter. Is this anything I want to try? It also installs something called WinProSet, I think I have that right. The install instructions look doable, but do I want to try it? It's dated 2/17/2023.
Thanks,
Frank

Hello Frank,
Never downloaded and installed any thing from the Intel® Ethernet Adapter Complete Driver Pack and can't give you any advice. I understand that this pack includes support for many O.S. and many Ethernet Adapters. I can recommend only the Intel® Ethernet (LAN) Network Connection Driver validated for NUC12WS. Maybe now, once you have installed the Chipset Software, the result will be positive. Otherwise wait for Intel Agent or other member of the Community to help you.

Hello Leon,
Thanks for trying to help me. There have been no responses from any Intel people about this problem. A search on Intel Communities for "LAN" gives 1000 inquiries with LAN problems. Early ones were primarily Wake on LAN problems, but now most are non functioning LAN controllers. I really appreciate all the help you have given me. My solution at this time is to abandon trying to use the LAN connector and connect a Thunderbolt to LAN adapter and use that. The one I'm using is built by Uni and uses a ASIX chip that will run at 600Mbps on my local router. Fast enough for now. Also, the seller I bought the NUC through has given me some money back on the NUC to cover my costs for this.
For your information, a quick search on Google for Intel I225-V problems shows the extent of the problem. Maybe Intel can find A fix.
Thanks again, I really appreciate your help

Frank772, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.
We are sorry to hear the issue remains after trying the suggestions provided previously.
In reference to this scenario, we just wanted to let you know that pretty much you tried all the troubleshooting steps we recommended for this scenario.
Just to confirm, you mentioned that the seller has given you some money back on the NUC to cover your costs for this. Do you still have the Intel® NUC? If you do, then we will do further research on this matter using the SSU report that you provided to try to find a possible solution for this case.
Any questions, please let me know.

Hello Albert,
I had set up the NUC 12 with 2 monitors connected to the NUC via the 2 Thunderbolt 4 connectors. When I realized I would not have a Ethernet connector for some time, I purchased a Thunderbolt 4 Hub and a Thunderbolt 4 to Ethernet adapter. I now have the monitors connected to the hub with the Ethernet adapter using the other NUC thunderbolt connector for the Ethernet adapter. I like the NUC 12 but was really disappointed about the Ethernet Controller. By the way, this is the second NUC 12 I purchased from the Amazon Seller, after returning the first to them. The first had exactly the same problem as the second. The seller picked up part of the cost of the hub.
I would appreciate hearing if a fix is found for the Ethernet controller.
By the way, I am measuring LAN speed using Totusoft, Inc software checking between the NUC and a Network attached system. My LAN from the NUC through a AT&T router to the NAS is running between 700Mbps and 800Mbps average, up and down. Both ends have 2.5Gbps controllers so the slow down is probably the router.
Thanks for responding,
Frank

Hello LokiSharp,
Nothing yet. Waiting on Intel. Subscribe to this thread to see any answers, which is all I have done other than use a thunderbolt 4 or USB 3 to Ethernet adapter. I found both work.
