Hi,

from AEP Specification, I know there are 3 modes. Memory, Storage and App-storage.

Are they possible to be configured by IPMI command?

or these modes depends on hardware version?

Thanks,

Derek

Hello DHuan29, Thank you for your reply. As mentioned on our previous post there are different hardware options for every customer need, we do not recommend using the hardware for functions other than the ones they were designed for (meaning that every hardware is designed to do a specific function like storage, acceleration or cache). To answer your question. “These modes are configured by Firmware (IPMI command), or depends on Hardware architecture, which one?” It will be both and are not user interchangeable. We hope you find this information helpful. Best regards, Josh B. Intel® Customer Support Technician Under Contract to Intel Corporation

Hello DHuan29, Thank you for contacting Intel® Memory & Storage Support. As we understand, you need assistance with 3D XPoint Technology. If we infer correctly we will appreciate if you can review the following information: • This is a brand new technology that was built from the ground up to address the need for non-volatile, high performance, high endurance and high capacity storage and memory at an affordable cost. The combination of these attributes in-memory technology in production sets it apart from anything else. • To learn more about the Intel® Optane™ Technology please visit the following link: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/architecture-and-technology/intel-optane-technology.html • To learn more about Intel® Optane™ memory please visit the following link: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/architecture-and-technology/optane-memory.html • To learn more about Intel® Optane™ SSDs please visit the following link: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/memory-storage/solid-state-drives/gaming-enthusiast-ssds/view-all.html As you can see from the information shared before there are different hardware for every customer need and we do not recommend using the hardware for functions that they were not designed to do. For example the Intel® Optane™ memory is designed to be used to accelerate SATA drives and it is detected as a storage device by the OS and can be formatted to be used as a storage but it is not tested, recommended or validated to be used as a storage and that kind of usage may void your product warranty. We hope you find this information helpful. If you have more questions or need further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us again. Best regards, Josh B. Hi Josh B.,

thank you for the information.

I still don't know how to configure the mode(Memory mode, Storage mode and App-direct mode).

in the information that you shared, they don't mention these modes.

these modes are configured by Firmware(IPMI command), or depends on Hardware architecture, which one?

Thanks,

Derek
