- To support system acceleration with Intel Optane memory, the SATA disk must contain at least 5 MB of continuous unallocated space at the end of the drive.
- You can view and modify disk setup in Disk Management. Shrink the partition at the end of the drive. Right-click the partition of the SATA system OS drive you want to accelerate. Select Shrink Volume.

Hi OGev;
Greetings from Intel® Optane Memory Communities.
For your information, our support is offered in English language. Please note, we are using a translation tool to read your posts; therefore, please be aware, there’s a possibility, the interpretation/translation of the issue, might not be 100% accurate.
As we understand, you need support with the installation of your Intel® Optane Memory, and you have received 0xA005004E error message during installation.
Please refer to our article Error Codes and Messages While Using Intel® Optane™ Memory System Acceleration by accessing this link: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000024113/memory-and-storage/intel-optane-memory.html?erpm_id=7828463
Error 0xA005004E is related to the Optane Memory requirement of having at least 5MB of Unallocated space at the end of the drive; by seeing the image provided, the unallocated space you have created it’s not at the end of the drive.
Prior performing any changes in your system, please make sure all of your data has been backed up, preventing the possibility of data loss.
Remove all unallocated partitions and return to original state, then follow instructions below.
Please find the procedure to fix this issue, as follows:
To support system acceleration with Intel Optane memory, the SATA disk must contain at least 5 MB of continuous unallocated space at the end of the drive. Intel Optane memory needs this space to store configuration information to successfully pair the SATA drive with the memory module.
Action: Confirm your SATA disk contains 5 MB of continuous unallocated space at the end of the drive.
Take caution before proceeding. We recommend backing up all data.
You can view and modify disk setup in Disk Management (Windows Key + x > Disk Management).
Shrink the partition at the end of the drive. Right-click the partition of the SATA system OS drive you want to accelerate. Select Shrink Volume.
We will be looking forward to your reply.
Have a nice day.
