Intel 545s SSD - is there a SSD Toolbox version for XP?

I just got a 545s SSD and would like to be able to use it in an older Windows XP machine, but the current Intel SSD toolbox V3.4.6 appears to be only for Windows 7 - 10.

Is there a version of the SSD Toolbox that will provide the TRIM/GC functions for the 545s drive with Windows XP SP3?

Older SSD Toolbox versions like 3.3.1 list XP compatibility, but I don't know if they are suitable for the 545s SSD.

If not, is there a 3rd party SSD management program that will work with XP?

Thanks.

Hello Branwise,

We understand you have recently purchased an Intel® SSD 545s Series, which you would like to use on Windows* XP SP3.

The last SSD Toolbox version providing support for your operating system was version 3.3.7, which is no longer available through our Download Center.

Since the 545s Series is a SATA drive, there should be no issues with the toolbox. However, we have not validated this and would like to check with our additional resources before providing you with a definitive answer.

Best regards,

Hello Branwise,

We regret to inform you that Windows* XP is no longer within our scope for validation.

Because of this, we cannot guarantee that this drive will be detected by the older toolbox version, nor can we recommend a third party tool to fill in this gap. However, all of our solid state drives handle garbage collection tasks at firmware level by default. For most consumer uses, this will allow your SSD to maintain the expected performance levels.

Our best recommendation will be to use this drive with a validated operating system offering native support for it's technology, such as Windows* 7 or above.

Best regards,

Carlos A.
