Hi
you should use " on your paths if you wrote exactly the lines you printed here. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Quartus and so on"- Mark as New

Using quotes gives exactly the same error
here's the command altera_installer_cmd -t="C:\Quartus" --temp="C:\QuartusT" --source="C:\quartus_free\altera_installer\bin" -i quartus_free -w- Mark as New

Maybe the command is jumbled: on http://www.altera.com/support/kdb/solutions/rd07212010_875.html (http://www.altera.com/support/kdb/solutions/rd07212010_875.html) we find the syntax:
-t TARGET_DIR or --target=TARGET_DIR- Mark as New

Hi,
I would try: altera_installer_cmd.exe --target="C:\Quartus" --temp="C:\QuartusT" --source="C:\...\Temp\10.0_quartus_free_windows" --install=quartus_free -w- Mark as New

Thanks it's worked now. Indeed it seems that it didn't like mixing the long and short option syntaxes.
