iPhone photo format

Hi

I'm really pleased with the way Intel Unison works to get photos from my iPhone to my computer, without having to go via paid cloud storage such as iCloud or Google Drive.

The received files work perfectly for most situations, but when I try to import them into certain other applications, the file format is reported as invalid.

The applications I have trouble with include CEWE and Corel Videostudio, where 99% of photos are rejected. I've added an image showing an error message from Videostudio.

For other applications (e.g. Windows Photos, Amazon Photos) the images are accepted without any problems.

I've found that running the photos through a conversion program can solve the problem so it would be nice if this functionality could be included directly in Intel Unison :).

The software I've tried is XnConvert, and I've also attached an image showing my selected conversion settings.

Hello Parbek,

Thank you so much for patiently waiting for our response.

May we know the list of file formats that fail to transfer using the Intel Unison app from phone to PC or from PC to phone?

Thanks for looking into this for me. I have the problem with both .jpg and .mov files from my iPhone.

Hello Parbek,

Thank you so much for patiently waiting on our response.

The jpg and mov file formats are able to be transferred using the Intel Unison app. Please transfer by file only and not by folder. And also capture the error message or video from the Intel Unison app if the jpg and mov file transfers have any issues.

Sorry for the delay in responding. As I want to transfer a lot of image files, I will stick with the method I found that seems to work even though it needs an extra step.
I can confirm that transferring one at a time, as suggested, does seem to work. This is very laborious though since the first file transferred is always called FullSizeRender.jpg, meaning the next one overwrites it unless I rename it first!

Hello Parbek,

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to us and for confirming that transferring one at a time works.

To confirm, what you really wanted was that, when transferring a lot of photos, it's better that they be stored in one folder when transferring? Is this correct?

Please let me know your thoughts so we may be able to request it with our engineers.

Best regards,

Using the Download option all photos seem to be called FullSizeRender meaning when transferring one at a time each has to be renamed before getting the next. However if I use Save instead it seems to get the original name from my phone which is fine when getting one item (or even a few) at a time.
It looks like the ‘file format error’ mostly happens when transferring a large number of images (say 50+), so may not be a fault of Unison after all!
